The town is nothing special, after seeing many other castles and walled towns throughout Tuscany (but still worth a look -- very old). But the experience of lunch on the terrace of La Bottega is not to be missed.

Six years ago our group of 10 visited the Castello Di Volpaia cooking class while staying at Castello Di Casole and has a great time cooking a lunch we had prepared. We returned again for a dinner class and dinner with our host Giovannella. The class was fun and the dinner with Giovannella and the stories we shared were great.... More

Lovely tiny hill town which is now a winery. Fabulous views and wine tastings. Up a rather windy road, but a well paved one.

We visited Volpaia on a wine tour of Chianti Classico. We took lunch at La Bottega in the centro storico and everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed the fabulous cuisine and wines. For those who are into historical sites then this is the place for you. Also a very peaceful place too where you can sit back and enjoy a glass... More

This winery is in the hills of Chianti and it is extremely beautiful. It has two great restaurants, a tasting facility and has its own beautiful church and is essentially a Castle. There are guest rooms for rent as well. It would be a beautiful place for a wedding. The wines were great and we did a lot of tasting... More

My wife and I had one of our best days on our honeymoon at giovenella's cooking class. We were with another couple and spent a good four hours with our impeccable host. Cooked several beautiful dishes and got a real insight into the history of volpaia. Great tour of the winery and olive oil production too...but the food, wine and... More

My wife and I, along with good friends, recently enjoyed a late afternoon Tour at the Castello di Volpaia, lead by a knowledgeable and very sweet young Lady, Alessandra. It's a "must see" if you anywhere near Radda or Siena. Perched on top of a beautiful hilltop just a short drive from Radda, it's a wonderful experience learning about their... More

I don't consider myself a wine expert by any means. In fact I couldn't tell the difference between a $100 bottle of wine and a $10 bottle. We were driving through Tuscany doing some site seeing and this place came up on Google Maps. So off we went to check it out. What a great little find. We paid for... More

I highly recommend the wine tour and wine tasting in Volpaia/Castello di Volpaia. It is a unique and charming setting with a cluster of medieval stone houses and buildings housing the various stages of wine production and cellar storage. We have visited many wineries in various countries and found this one fascinating as well as an overall pleasurable experience. it... More

Although it was early in the season, Giovanella was gracious enough to give us the cooking class one-on-one. She was so helpful and the class was the highlight of our trip in Tuscany. After preparing all the food, Giovanella took us on a tour of the winery and the olive oil factory. Everything was so beautiful. The icing on the... More
