Our guide was great, coming from a tour guide myself. we went after our river tour so it was around 2pm. There weren't as many Macaws are there is in the early morning but se still had some amazing views, photos and other bird species.

It is a nice and easy trail to get to the cave (Buraco) and we saw some small animals on the way. The cave is really huge and very impressive. There are like 4 macaws there, because is not mating season (or something like that) and they are far away... Anyway, if you have spare time before Rio da Prata... More

Simple and quick excursion but worth the price of admission. Bring your camera and take lots of pictures of the beautiful maccaws. I recommend going early in the morning or at sunset for the best pictures and most action.

The sinkhole itself is in impressive structure, however the sight of so many scarlet macaws flying around and inhabiting this area was great to see. If you don't speak Portuguese, we suggest you have an interpreter with you, as a lot of information is given to you. Marcello, hired through Bonito tours, was very good.

This place has a large sinkhole that now is home to many macaws. It is located only about 15 minutes drive from rio da prata so if you go to rio da prata, you might as well add this to your schedule. The trail takes about an hour through the savanna and around the circumference of the sink hole. There... More

I really didn't know what to expect coming here, but I was so glad I went! This is a macaw's paradise and it was so beautiful to see them flying and calling to each other. We got to see many of them up-close. We had a private tour with our guide just because we happened to be the only ones... More

Together with a guide you are taken around the hole to spot the magnificent macaws. I recommend going early or late in the day when they are up and about so you are more likely to see them.

very interesting geological formation, which favours macaws' nesting. tens of macaws can be seen in less than 1 minute, flying all over the giant hole we are visiting.

From the visitor centre we were taken by a guide into what just seemed to be an area of vegetation. After a few minutes we were presented with the staggering sight of an enormous sinkhole with sheer walls and a relatively flattish base area. An enormous cave had collapsed creating the feature. There is no normal access to the floor... More

We stopped at the reserve on our way from Bonito to the Recanto Ecologico Rio da Prata. There is a welcoming visitors centre where friendly staff greet people in Portugese, Spanish and English. Drinks are available here though only water may be consumed on the tour (something about sugary drinks attracting bees. I wasn't convinced but respected the rule nonetheless).... More
