Super trip to a medieval chateau. Although very hot due to fantastic weather there are enough indoor areas (rooms / caves / tunnels) to hide in and recover. Took us 3 Hrs to have a good look around - from the moat up to the top of a tower ( my artistic attempt of a photo) Fantastic buildings - be... More

I love castles. This is one of the best I have been in, ruins or not. It is up there with Beynac and Ludlow. It is a fantastically interesting edifice from soaring towers to an actual huge cave in the basement. A very well looked after national treasure. This is a must see.

This chateaux is really, really cool. You can see how the lords and ladies lived 500 years ago. If your close its definitely worth the visit.

Not just a castle like the others in the Dordogne / Lot region. Not for nothing the first Listed Monument. Although a lot of the castle is ruined, a lot is very recognizable. Do take the guided tour, the guides tell you so much more than you can discover yourself. In the main season there are also tours in other... More

If you only visit one chateau then this must be it. It's a ruin but so interesting. The structure of the building adds to its fortifications and it's very pleasant strolling around reading the leaflet and imagining how life must have been. It also has stunning views over the countryside. At the bottom of the chateau's hill there's a car... More

This spectacular castle dates back to 1271 and sits on a hill above the quaint town of Fumel. Surrounded by an impressive moat and spectacular views of the surrounding grounds and country from the The Keep, this castle deserves a couple of hours minimum to explore. Beautifully preserved and maintained by it's current owner - the town of Fumel.

Lovely place to visit and there are several restaurants in the centre. We have been here twice before, did'nt think it could improve any more but it has.The recent refurbishment both to the village, shops, and castle are terrific, so many things to see and so much to do.There is a lovely museum, the models are another 'must see' too,... As we had most of the day to get to Bergerac Airport on our way home we were recommended the detour to this Chateau. We were definitely not disappointed and as there were few people around we were able to walk round at our leisure. Everything is well signposted and although most of the castle is empty room there is... More

I have seen all kinds of castles and chateaux, but this takes the biscuit. There is so much to see here that it would take several hours and quite a few thousand words to describe it all. We went around without a guide, but that was no problem as all sections of the castle are well signed and there are... More
