As we had most of the day to get to Bergerac Airport on our way home we were recommended the detour to this Chateau. We were definitely not disappointed and as there were few people around we were able to walk round at our leisure. Everything is well signposted and although most of the castle is empty room there is... More

I have seen all kinds of castles and chateaux, but this takes the biscuit. There is so much to see here that it would take several hours and quite a few thousand words to describe it all. We went around without a guide, but that was no problem as all sections of the castle are well signed and there are... More

A brilliant castle that was great fun to explore on a rainy day. The English self-guide was interesting and pretty good. Some of the rooms were a little bare but it's clearly a work in progress. A great couple of hours for €7 each. The shops on the way up/down from the castle are also worth a visit.

Wonderful castle, very well preserved with amazing views. The English plan is a bit difficult to follw but the signage is good so you are able to work out where you are. The underground cavern still clearly shows all the pick marks and the children enjoyed exploring the echo facility! The weather was not good but we were able to... More

Genuine castle! Imposing location and lots of towers, ramparts, steps, etc. Cost was reasonable I thought - 2 x adults / 2 x children for 26 euros. Not lots of displays, etc or English translations, but you can sense the history and appreciate the work to restore. Ample parking at base of hill.

The castle is great - you can see how much the French are doing to painstakingly restore it. I agree that in time they could add more in way of models/information but expect their focus is still on overall restoration. Our 5 and 3 year old enjoyed the visit and the 3 year old managed all the steps. One major... More

With 3 young boys, 10,9 and 7, Bonaguil is a treat as it looks And feels like a real castle. It is huge and there are lots of steps so watch out with very young ones. For English visitors there are translations but I think the signage and information could be more detailed and thorough. The castle is fascinating and... More

Never been to Bonaguil before but was not disappointed , very impressed as we arrived . Plenty of parking at the bottom of the hill and by a few restaurants . A good walk to the top and around the Chateau followed by a good lunch at the bottom again ! Certainly worth a visit and would take an afternoon.

What an amazing place, definetly worth a visit! Not all the exhibits have an English translation but there is plenty to see! Don't be tempted to stop for something to eat at 'Le Menestrel' below the chateau, an absolute rip off and appalling service!!!!

We loved this castle. Lots to see and not expensive to get in.......you even get a free postcard and a little pamphlet telling you all about it. Wasn't busy when we were there at the beginning of July but I expect it is in the height of the season. Lovely views from the top. We parked at the bottom and... More
