Our trip to Malta coinsided with the Islands famous Festa's. These religous festivals are great and they light up all the churches and have fireworks night and day (which obviously cannot be seen?!!) if you go in the church you need to be suitably dressed and respectful for ladies shoulders covered and skirts past the knee or trousers, a lot... The church is beautiful. It stands on the hill, so You can see nice view of Mellieha city and Mellieha bay. It is lightend with different colours lamps in the evening and the concerts are often done next to it in the square of Mellieha. The only problem is working hours. We tried to get in 2 times and we... More

Depending on where you are staying a walk up to the church is a must do. Try to do it when the sun is not at its highest as it does get hot. Once you get to the church enjoy the experience and then off for a couple of cold beers.

apparently still not complete! The church was lit up for the festival and was in pristine condition. Outside, children played around the fountain and inside the cool of the church was sanctuary from the evening heat!

We were all quite astonished to find this beautiful, regal, imposing church in a fairly quiet and tranquil town in the more rural north of the island.Wow!Any city would be lucky to have it,so Mellieha must be justly proud of this wonderful place of worship.Plenty of scope in the surrounding square to take photos of the incredible architecture, and fantastic views looking down... We visited during the August celebrations and had the great pleasure of enjoying the outside lighting to the church. Lovely place both inside and out which all our party enjoyed visiting. Some very informative information on the inside walls.

Its a quaint, beautiful church and lovely to show people (As I'm a local). But when those bells get going - they play too loud, too often and just give me and my neighbours a headache. I mean ringing them at 6 in the morning ? Are you serious? If only the bells played softer and with an actual tune...... More
