It's a great place to visit. 3€ fee entrance. Unfortunately still needs more accessibility, since it's difficult to reach some areas of the castle.

The only drawback in visiting this attraction is the number of stairs that have to be climbed and the footing is not great for some one who is unsure. Part of the palace has been nicely restored and affords a wonderful glimpse into how life must have been. Great city views, worth the effort.

The castle of Leiria is the one thing you should see during your trip to Leiria. I find it stunning and really worth visiting, since it is very well preserved and the view down to the city is simply stunning. Also it is a great place for an effective morning or late afternoon walk!

We have a great view of the castle from our hotel so decided to walk uphill to visit it. We started walking from the tourist information centre, near the bus station and main historic area. Firstly, the walk looks very high but you do it In stages with level walks in between. It really is not as far away as... More

I like to visit Portugal in the early spring time as its so much cooler and just warm in the day time.So many little shops and beaches to stroll along. Almost people there speak english and are willing to help.

Although as one main point in the town we had a bit difficulties to find our way to the top of the town and to this castle. The scenery out there to the surroundings is amazing and this way you make for sure the the best of it.

from the outside the castle looks big. from down the city it looks very nice at night, with the lights and everything. but i was expecting a lot more once climbing up to i. the castle is small inside, it was the main room, a former church, a tower and a small yard. there is no pavement of any sort,... Great castle to see as it gives that hands on experience of Medieval life which to us, in XXI century would be shocking in it's raw naturalism. Think how you would walk on the cobblestones in XIV century shoes rather than your average Timberland up and down especially in rain! And hygiene? What hygiene! Very well laid out information about... More

I've been to many castles, this is one of my favorites because I can almost picture how life was during the Medieval times. From here we have a breathtaking view of all Leiria. I strongly recommend its visit.
