Are you dreaming of a real authentic adventure? Longing for silence and tranquility?Do you wonder how it feels relaxing outside your tent, after spending a full day exploring one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, using the most environmental friendly means of transport ever – the kayak? If you long for some of the above you should check out Njord. We have been guiding people in the outdoors since 1999, given thousands of customers a great day out – or the adventure of a lifetime – kayaking the beatiful fjords of Norway.Western Norway is the area for our activities. Njord specialize in kayak and wilderness adventures, in the fjords and by the North Sea coastline. We have bases in Flåm and – if you are in for a real adventure – the amazing archipelago of Bulandet. For the last years, we have set the standard for adventure tourism in Norway, building a happy and competent crew to give our customers the best of service. Our philosophy is that our main product is everlasting and positive vacation memories. We only recruit guides that have considerable knowledge about nature and safety, a structured mind and the positive spirit that is the core value of the company. We are concerned with the nature that surrounds us and have a philosophy of leaving no trace of our journey. The only thing we leave behind is ripples in the water. We have on offer shorter 3-4 hour tours, multiday tours, rentals and kayak courses from beginners to advanced level. We have a flexible and adaptable organisation and are fully focused on providing the best service possible to our customersWe have a policy of training and employing local guides. We aim to have at least 50% local guides and instructors. Every season we have several local youths in as trainee guides. All Njord Guides are either qualified trough the Norwegian Paddle Association (NPF), British Canoe Union (BCU) or American Canoe Union (ACA).All guides have been taking part in our Guide Training Programme. This programme focus on; Safety issues; Technical kayaking skills; Customer relations; Guide skills; Local culture and history; Environmental awareness. I wanted to escape the dreary city life, and boy what a pleasant surprise! I was welcomed by the most charming of guides, radiating a shining smile in a week of rain. But that did not dampen her spirits. Erika took me on a journey through the fjords, breathtaking in every way. The mountains were beautiful, the wildlife was singular... More

Unfortunately I forgot the name of our instructor, (I think it was Erica?) but she was Canadian :) she was lovely and extremely helpful. We had a safety briefing beforehand, a few test-runs and then we were in the water! Again, like everything in Flåm, the views were amazing. We stopped at various points on the Fjord to learn about... We went on a trip to Iceland, Norway, and Denmark....and this was a highlight of the trip. Not only was the scenery breathtaking, but the experience was wonderful, The guide (Ervin) was extremely knowledgeable and personable, and it was a true learning experience. This is good exercise, but not physically taxing. What a great morning.

Easy to find, the kayaking took place in Flam, Aurland. The guide was very welcoming and chatty. As soon as the group was gathered, he gave clear and comprehensible instructions on how to paddle, how and what to wear and so on. During the kayaking we got information about the forming of the fjord, vikings, incidents happened in world war... More

We did a 1 hour kayak ride (Daniel was our guide) and it was fantastic! Despite some not-so-great weather, the fjords were beautiful and Daniel was very informative and helpful. We had a great experience and even took a dip in the Norwegian Sea afterwards.

This was the best part of our stay in Flam! Want to go back again! Because we went in September, there was only the 3 hour kayaking available - but still so much fun! We saw goats and our guide Erica was awesome! Told us cool stories and facts about the area. She was great with instructing us before we... More

As a guide for National Geographic photographers, Ervin took us on a kayak tour through the fjords. It was absolutely breathtaking. Whether you're experienced or new to paddle sports, I highly recommend this.

We did the 3 hour kayak tour during our cruise ship excursion. We absolutely loved our experience. Roger, Dan and Caroline were incredible group leaders. They provided a very thorough safety instruction before we began our kayak trip. We were a large group but they did a great job of keeping everyone together. The views were absolutely spectacular. This was... More

I arrived in Flam wanting to do some kayaking and wandered down to Njord on the beach. Someone hadn't turned up and I ended up going on a trip there and then! Fantastic trip - amazing scenery and the instructors were great. Lots of background on the area and good tales of trolls and other legends. I had only been... More

For those seeking a true immersion into the natural beauty of the Norwegian fjords the 5 day kayak adventure provides a truly unique experience. Experience and not vacation or holiday is the appropriate word to describe this adventure because it requires active participation and an enthusiastic spirit to fully enjoy. It is cathartic to the soul to paddle through the... More
