We came here as a group trip and all of us enjoyed walking round the estate, most of us walked up to the old castle to enjoy the views from the top. We took our own picnics as our group was too small for the hot/cold buffet that can be booked in advance which we considered overpriced, the kiosk only... More

Beautiful weather made for stunning views and very relaxing walk around. Although it was a Saturday and not actually open, met a man on a ride-on mower near the walled garden who said it was OK to stay and explained the best routes to walk the grounds.A great day out. Lord Arran, you said if we enjoyed ourselves to say... More

We have driven past these gardens for years and always wanted to go. This year we did and were very, very disappointed. There was very little colour in the gardens and a lot of the beds were empty or full of faded shrubs which should have been dead headed long ago. The walks were the same - shrubs well past... More

Such a charming walk. Such lovely staff. We arrived at 10.15 to find the carpark empty, but a lady came to talk to us and told us we were too early as the estate didn't open until 11.00. However, she told us we were welcome to walk the grounds and come and pay later, when she had got the kettle... More

A pleasant garden and grounds, but as its title suggests its paths are steep in places. Routes are well signed, and disabled parking and toilets are available at the rear of the house. Sadly, its snacks were extremely limited. There are however two Inns nearby which serve meals: the Jack Russell in Swimbridge and the North Gate Inn at the... More

If you enjoy walking around gardens then this is the place to visit, many paths around the estate and hidden follies and statues make this an interesting place to visit. The long drive to the car park shows the grandeur of the main house. Well maintained gardens and a pleasure to visit

A lovely garden to visit, formal planting, woodland glade and riverside walks. Loads of space for children to play with picnic spots for the whole family. Delicious coffee, locally made cake and ices. The friendly and relaxed attitude of the staff make this a place for chilling out.
