Despite the rain, this annual event was well attended and one could use the tea rooms and wander arond the formal gardens for free, but one had to pay in full if you were not doing the dog show event. This was a charity do, and Lady Arran is very kind in letting it take place in such lovely surroundings.... More

This is the perfect setting for a walk whatever the time of year. Some steep climbs, but amazing views once you reach the top.

Unfortunately, I was only able to see a fraction of this estate, as I was escorting people with poor mobility, but I loved what I saw! It was all very well cared-for, with beautiful gardens and several seats to enjoy the views. It is a hilly site, but the paths that I saw wound their way gently up the hills,... More

Castle Hill is a great place to relax and unwind. The view from the castle is amazing, bit of a hike up but well worth it. A gentle walk beside the stream is so peaceful and the grounds around the wonderful house are immaculate. The ticket office offers tea/coffee but don't expect a sit down meal! Having said that we... On a dull day we wanted somewhere to go where we could take our dog too. What a find Castle Hill Gardens was. As senior citizens we paid £5.50 each to walk the gardens with our dog on a lead. Up the Lavendar Walk towards the house, the borders were full of interesting plants; we walked on the front lawns,... More

The grounds were beautiful, we were lucky to visit on a very warm sunny day which showed the exterior off to its best. One of our party has to use a mobility scooter. We managed the gardens but could only go a little way around the wider area of the grounds away from the house. Lovely place to stroll with... More

We visited the house and gardens with a local Church Friends group. It was a lovely afternoon, completed with a cream tea in the West Wing. The gardens were looking good in late April, we were just at the right time to see the overlapping flowering of the Camellias,Rhododendrons, Azaleas and Magnolias and enjoy a walk around the extensive grounds.... This estate is clearly well loved and painstakingly maintained by Lord and Lady Arran. It is always a joy to visit the beautiful gardens and grounds.
