Went there on 18th August 2020. Lovely place but prices are premium. For example Victoria plums at £3.95 KG a kilogram. Most of the produce is well above shop prices which is crazy as there are no transport costs or wholesalers fees. Wholesale price of plums is between £1.10 and £1.50 per kilogram so a considerable mark up.

A great place to take the children fruit picking. You pay according to the weight of the fruit you take home.

There is also a wonderful shop very well stocked with local and regional produce.

Local produce and great selection of pick your own fruit, with the fairly recent addition of a tea room/coffee shop makes for a winning combination

We have been fruit picking at Downingbury farm every summer for about 25 years. The loss of the top field to the Hospice was sad, as it used to be the place to get the best strawberries. Now they have been planted on a couple if others sites on the farm and are back to their best. Strawberries from the farm are wonderful with a full flavour, needing no cream or sugar. The gooseberries are excellent, but my favourites are the plums. For two or three weeks a year you can pick all the plums you can carry. The Victoria's are superb, the damsons flavourful, and there are a couple of other varieties. Raspberries seem to have a long season, and are a delight. The farm shop sells dairy and some meat. I like the apple juice and beer as well. There are other pick your own locally, one is brilliant for apples, but Downingbury farm is a family favourite.

Brilliant - what a fantastic thing that you can take the kids and pick your own fruit. The kids love it and of course so do we.

Apart from the 'pick your own' the farm shop has a huge selection of other produce too large to mention

Downingbury Farm has a excellent farm shop with a variety of fruits and vegetables, reasonably priced. They also sell meats and dairy produce. But most of all they hace the best pick-your-own strawberries in the area. They do a brilliant cream tea too, depends on how they are staffed because sometimes they are really busy. The staff are always polite and helpful.

Good range of locally grown fruit and veg, fairly reasonably priced. Probably doesn’t get the footfall to have the range or turnover of stock to make it really good but nice to buy local.
Staff explained what was available on the PYO but understandably given the recent spell of hot, dry weather, the PYO was very limited when we visited.

If buying locally produced fruit and vegetables is important to you, forget those supermarkets and head for this farm. Either pick your own or visit the well stocked farm shop, the choice is yours. It helps if you have a car as apart from one infrequently run bus, it can be somewhat inaccessible. However, it is worth the trip as nothing beats the taste of freshly picked fruit. Support local hard working farmers.
