Mr. Eise Eisinga made this planetarium to educate people and to help them understand that the planest wouldn't colide. In 1774 a bit of panic occured since the common believe was that with the colission of planets, planet earth would seize to exist.

Accurate scale model of the solar system. All the planets, stars, sun and moon in the Planetarium move exactly as they do in reality. All driven by a mechanism made of wooden disks with more than 10,000 nails serving as gear teeth. Every visitor receives an explanation in the planetarium room. It's a short visit.

This planetarium was constructed in a house on a living room ceiling in 1774-81 by Eise Eisingen . Eise was awool comber and amateur astronomer. This visit was unique and an absolutely unexpected delight whilst touring Friesland.
