Great variety of stalls in the caves offering lots of different products, remember if you buy and electrical item that you need to buy a travel plug to use at home in UK! It can get hot and a little crowded in the caves but other than that it was fab!

What a nice place to go to in the holiday season (added bonus = the Christmas Market). It's five euros well spent. You wander through the cave and there are lots and lots of little Christmas stalls with diversity and class. Be sure to take some cash (euros) with you in the cave because credit cards or bank cards won't... More

If you want to get into the Christmas spirit early then you should visit Valkenburg. The markets in the caves are magical, beautifully set up and arranged, with great facilities for guests.

We visited this attraction in December. It is a series of linked caves and tunnels built under the town. We were told it was basically an unused self contained nuclear shelter for the town residents. At Christmas time the caves are lit and decorated in a wonderfully heart warming way and there are stalls selling every imaginable festive accessory. There... More

We visited the caves, in combination with castle ruins, when we had overseas friends over. These caves are quite different compared to the Maastricht caves. They are smaller but well kept and include many drawings. We joined a tour from just over an hour, which was enough to take it all in.

In this grotto-cave we visit the christmass market every year. It is held from the 16th of november till the 31th of december. The grotto is heated thus not cold like the German Christmass markets.

An interesting perspective on the history of the area. Although the tour was in Dutch, the English language handout was very informative and the guide offered more than once to answer questions and gave very good explanations when we did ask. A flashlight (or mobile phone flashlight app) was helpful so we could read as we went along, also to... More
