Caceres is a very lovely town in the way towards Salamanca so we had stopped there for some hours. It has many thing and sights to offer, especially the old town centre.

Not many foreign tourists come to Cáceres, but it's well worth visiting. The town itself has old streets and churches, and nearby is Monfragüe national park, and also other old villages and towns such as Guadalupe, Trujillo, Garganta la Olla and Yuste (go to the monastery). Three days needed!

The old historical part of Caceres in inviting, charming and relaxing. The perfect place to walk and discover, then relax at one of the many street bars or restaurants. Whereas in the rest of the place you could be in any Spanish town or city. So don't waste time in the non-historical area and only focus upon old world charm.

The centre is lovely, packed with very old buildings, all described in English, so enough history to get get a feeling for the place. The streets are steep but there are plenty of places to sit and get your breath or take a drink. Storks abound, building nests on all the tall buildings, take a look at the nest next... More

This is an interesting place to visit, although it lacked any colour. It would have been nice if it had more gardens around. It was all stone and brick and all the houses were locked and barred. Cobbled streets and lots of ups and downs. Although the museums are free, all signage is in Spanish, so we couldn't appreciate them... More

You can spent half a day in the old part of Cáceres. Walking around, stopping for a coffee or to see one of the nice museums or to eat in the best restaurants of the city.

This is another charming, historical Spanish city, perfect for strolling around by day and night and because we didn't really have time to do a complete circuit, we'll have to schedule a return visit. The square at night is lovely, with several bars to sit at, enjoy tapas and wine and watch the world walk by.

I happen to like old towns. The old city of Caceres is right up there. Allow yourself to get lost in the narrow cobbled streets, sit in the main square and people watch over a wine or two, and visit a few of the many interesting cathedrals, churches & museums that make up the old city. Fantastic.

The old town is beautiful, very well-preserved and it is amazing how it fits so well together with the 'new' town. One minute you can be walking down a street of shops and cafes to the Plaza Mayor, and once you've crossed the square you're in the old town with its church, museum and many other attractions. Keep an eye... More
