Beautiful place, lovely views, lots if birds and great for a walk with the dogs. Also a lot of wild mushrooms, berries and plants, great for a relaxing day.

We enjoyed a drive through the Monfrague National Park - the scenery is stunning particularly the rocky outcrops, and we enjoyed watching the birds. The road is good as there is plenty of parking at the main lookout point.

Although it is possible to drive through the park, there are many hiking trails throughout. My husband and I did a 5 km walk up to the castle, which affords a panoramic view of the Tajo River. We brought food and water and had a picnic when we got to the top while watching vultures gliding gracefully in front of... More

We just drove through this park but it looked very good and wished we could have explored it further. It appears to be very big with a river running through it. There was a camping site too.

Super scenic, windy roads with a great view from the castle. A family of vultures live here - real fun to watch how elegant they are soaring in the sky catching the thermals!

Worth a visit when in the Plasencia region. See mighty birds circling overhead, articial lakes and a very interesting landscape with unusual rock formations all easily reachable by a small but good road leading through the National Park.

It is so good we went twice in 2 days. The place to go is the castle 8km from the visitor centre. You can park at the very bottom and walk up the road or park at the very top. Either way you should see well over a hundred vultures doing vultury things. Swooping round on soaring arcs, landing on... More

This is a new national park so the visitors centre at Villarreal de San Carlos isn't finished yet but there is a good information centre and plenty of places to eat. We travelled from Trujillo about 1 hr. We stopped at the castle and saw the vultures and griffon flying over and under us! There were so many birds. There... More

This is one of the most beautiful places in Extremadura (my region). I would recommend a visit in May or September... It could be so hot in summer :)
