This is a really majestic castle. During the tour of the castle we had an opportunity to see all its beauty and many spectacular views over the whole town. Pretty young girls dressed in nice "old" clothes met us in some castle room and we tried to capture their friendly and slightly enigmatic smiles. This castle is realy worth visiting.... More

It is a beautiful place where you can relive things that have happened in the past. There is an amazing view over the whole of orava its just beautiful. My only concern is with a lot of people there it can get quite stuffy not the ideal space for a claustrophobic person like me!

This is an amazing castle which was built and rebuilt and added onto for centuries, so there are examples of architecture and artifacts in a procession of time periods as you tour the castle. We had a tour guide in English on our first visit, and on another visit the guide spoke only Slovak, but luckily we had Slovak friends... More

It is a great place to visit. Breathtakingly placed high over the valley, partly medieval castle well preserved (partly reconstructed after a fire but mostly in a very good way). Spectacular views and wonderful way to imagine how life used to look there, with an additional bloody story of female - Drakula :) Very much worth a visit

We visited the castle on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 and had a knowledgeable tour guide who spoke English and who led us all the way up to the top (600 steps). The climb is worth it, but not for those who are afraid of heights. A lot of interesting history, both ancient and modern--the castle was used in some of... More

this castle looks like a fairy tale castle and is quite spectacular (although a lot of it is quite recent, being reconstruction/renovation). however, we were very disapointed with our visit. The lady who sold tickets was quite unpolite, just giving us the price and telling the tour would start upstairs. No English or Germany tours seem to be available or... More

I am a born Slovak and I truly believe this is one of the most beautiful castles in our small country. However, as with every attraction in Slovakia, it was badly sign posted and it took us a while to find our way around. Eventually we found our way to the castle, only to find we had to walk back... I've been to Orava Castle many times and I always enjoy my visit. The tour guides are nice and you always learn something new. You need to walk up a steep hill to the castle and then there are many stairs but you don't have to go to the highest point if it's too difficult for you, you can just... More

Like most castles in Poland Slovakia, it's a long, steep walk up the hill! The castle is located on a limestone cliff 112 m above the Orava River, and you feel every meter, but it's a walk worth taking. It is one of the largest ... and considered one of the most beautiful ... castles in Slovakia, and I'll add... More
