Just one of the old castles that loom over Slovakia on granite pillars like a fortress. amazing history, spectacular views, incredible architecture. Definitely a must see if you visit the countryside.

Open form 08:30 - 17:00 h. If you would like to take a tour of the castle tickets can be purchased near the bottom of the hill leading up to the castle. Don't make the mistake I made of getting all the way up to the castle courtyard and then having to walk all the way back down and then... More

This castle is one of the most beautiful castles I have ever visited and the view from the top is really spectacular. Loved it even though I have visited maybe 10times, it is still worth a visit

We visited this castle in december and it was quite cold up there. Castle is huge and various, many movies were filmed there. E.g. Nosferatu wampire. Enjoy it!

A lot of climbing up hill, even before entering the gate. But do climb all the stairs to the top, it's worth the effort.

Orava Castle is one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Slovakia. It's a large building complex and almost all rooms are accessible, so the tour (unfortunately in Slovak) takes several hours. At the castle the outside scenes for the unofficial Dracula film "Nosferatu" from 1922 were filmed.

We visited Podzamok for the day and this castle was our first stop. As the only English-speakers on the tour, we pretty much followed behind everyone else and looked at stuff in our own time. I loved the weapons, gallows and torture chamber, and the views from the top of the castle were amazing.
