Walk down the long staircase at the Payne Overlook at Mohegan Bluffs. When you get to the beach, walk to the right past the first promontory. From there to the next promontory is a clothing-optional beach by common practice. Most of the beachgoers wear regular swimsuits, but some wear thongs, some women are topless, and some people (usually m/f couples)... More

This was an amazing experience. The climb down and back up again was well worth it for the gorgeous views and great time spent on the beach.

Absolutely gorgeous spot to see while visiting Block Island! My family biked/moped-ed to the bluffs. Please know that just to get to the bluffs is tiring/hilly (especially if biking). I had a 7 and 9 year old in my party and this was our final stop (coming from Old Harbor) as they were whipped. The good news is they honestly... More

Well worth the adventure of getting there. By bike, it's uphill from the ferry dock ... but a nice ride, particularly if you take the counterclockwise route. Yes, there are plenty of stairs to climb down to the beach along with some moderately strenuous downhill rock-walking fun, and all of that means you'll have a lot of uphill afterward. But... More

Great view. You need to walk down steps that are a bit steep so you need to be careful going down and it can be tough going up for elderly. Very nice when you get to the bottom.

The view from the above, as well as, from the beach(when you take the stairs to go down). The stairs can be little tiring on the way back, after you are a little tired from swim and other activities;but worth it.The beach is good place to relax and refresh. Worth every stair!

AMAZING is all I can say about this. The view is incredible ! YOu can see down to the beach from the tops of the stairs. Be prepared to walk back up ! Once down to the bottom you have to climb rocks to get on the beach. Wish the Island would go further with access. I suspect if the... More

While we passed on undertaking the long climb up and down the challenging wooden stairs, we still gawked at the incredible view from the top of the sandy cliff. Down below for as long as our eyes could see was a magnificent rocky beach and white sand. We were transfixed at this unequalled vista.

Even if you don't attempt "the stairs" its still worth seeing the view from the top. Not that far of a walk and a very short ride from almost anywhere on the island.

Just spectacular and on a clear day you can see the tip of Long Island; Montalk. There is a lovely beach at the bottom of the steps.
