Souter makes for a very interesting visit, giving full access to the lighthouse and engine room (a bit of a steep climb if you want to reach the top!). Run by the National Trust, there is also a lovely little cafe and shop, along with a small outdoor play area for the kids. Free parking a bonus. Our children, 5... More

Our visit considered with a childrens event, making lighthouse, at a cost of only £3 both our grandchildren left with a fantastic model and both had a great time followed by a visit to the top of the lighthouse and the play park , a truly fantastic experience.

Took my 5 year old boy here on Sunday afternoon as suggested by a colleague. Free parking is a bonus, as we got out the car I instantly felt relaxed, such stunning views and a peaceful environment, my boy was a little cold so we didn't have the opportunity to walk far. £10 entrance fee, greeted by lovely helpful staff.... We like to park in the free parking area and have a lovely walk along to Seaburn. As I couldn't make the walk back we hop on a bus which stops right outside the carpark. We then enjoy a lovely light lunch in the centre or take a picnic There is a nice little gift shop where the staff are... More

This was a very good place to visit. Both the kids and the adults enjoyed it. I found it to be very interesting seeing how the lighthouse worked and how the keepers lived in them. The staff were very knowledgeable very pleasant send helpful. The views out over the North sea are amazing on a bleak day you can see... More

Really great half day out. You get to look around the lighthouse keepers family house and then can climb up to the light in the lighthouse. not for the feint hearted. Literally a vertical climb in a lot of places. Fantastic views and really well informed staff. Also great little coffee shop with delicious cakes.

I would like to start by explaining that I'm not disappointed that I couldn't get up the actual lighthouse! I've always been pleased to discover how accessible National Trust properties are, especially when the staff are coping with listed buildings that can't have permanent ramps and so on.
