We like to park in the free parking area and have a lovely walk along to Seaburn. As I couldn't make the walk back we hop on a bus which stops right outside the carpark. We then enjoy a lovely light lunch in the centre or take a picnic There is a nice little gift shop where the staff are... More

This was a very good place to visit. Both the kids and the adults enjoyed it. I found it to be very interesting seeing how the lighthouse worked and how the keepers lived in them. The staff were very knowledgeable very pleasant send helpful. The views out over the North sea are amazing on a bleak day you can see... More

Enjoyed the top of the lighthouse and the living quarters good interactive experience in the small museum. Staff all very friendly and enthusiastic. Fantastic walk along cliffs, from souter... More

Really great half day out. You get to look around the lighthouse keepers family house and then can climb up to the light in the lighthouse. not for the feint hearted. Literally a vertical climb in a lot of places. Fantastic views and really well informed staff. Also great little coffee shop with delicious cakes.

I would like to start by explaining that I'm not disappointed that I couldn't get up the actual lighthouse! I've always been pleased to discover how accessible National Trust properties are, especially when the staff are coping with listed buildings that can't have permanent ramps and so on. However, there are areas in this site that could have been made... More

Just back from a weekend staying in Lighthouse Cottage 1 at Souter Lighthouse .... and what a wonderful time we had. The Cottage itself is beautifully equipped and is part of the NT Souter site. As part of the rental, we had access to the Lighthouse tour which was enjoyed thoroughly by both ourselves and our 9 year old daughter... More

Visited Souter Lighthouse and the Leas recently on the way home from a trip to Northumberland. I am a National Trust member and this was my first visit. Got a little lost through Newcastle trying to find it but got there eventually. Very interesting memerobilia and nice view from the top of the lighthouse, though last few steps are steep.... More

A Lighthouse in red and white, clearly I was in Sunderland. The £5.80 fee for non National trust members is reasonable as in addition to the tour of the lighthouse you also get access to the exhibition and the lighthouse keeper's accommodation. However, the lighthouse is no longer working nor is the very loud Fog horn, so it really ends... More

This is a great place to visit, whether you are on your own, a couple or family. Volunteers provide an excellent guided tour, their knowledge is exceptional and just the right balance to keep you interested in the history and facts. It was great to see the machinery that produced the electricity that powered the light, then find out some... More
