I haven't been here since the refurb .but was pleasantly suprised by the kids zone and heritage and historical offerings. Grear for a free hour or so for any age train enthusiast

Not much is free in life, but this is. It's a museum to the trains that used to stop along there (not the metro) and all things transport. Very interesting indeed.

An early railway station, and a grand one. Approach is a bit "lowest common denominator" and skewed to children. Since a lot of those visiting will be knowledgeable about railways, this is rather silly; rather more detail on the area's railways is called for, but interesting nonetheless. Can easily be combined with the St Peter's Church site about 440 yards... More

Retuned to Newcastle on another business trip and again took time out to revisit Monkwearmouth Station Museum and to give it a second chance following my previous review. This time the museum has been tidied up and displays better organised. For the first time I got to visit the two railway vehicles located in 'The Sidings' which is a fairly... More

Very interesting but there really isn't much here at all. Could maybe spend an hour here but not much more. Is very easy to get to.

The museum is well presented but it is really quite small - just really the statopn building and a small wagon shed. Exhibits are varied and done well and cover more than just the station - exploring other transport subjects and some videos of 'old' Sunderland. There is a children's area and a vending maching for hot drinks - no... More

Interactive, small, free, park on front forecourt, drinks machine, buttons to press, viedos to watch, dressing up clothes - a lovely way to spend 1-2 hours on a rainy day
