Good for a short visit. It offers a green view, and Jelling's museum is right next to it. Nothing espectacular, but it's OK.

The stones are great, but the museum (which is FREE!) made the biggest impression due to its innovative use of technology. Hugely recommended--and the Viking re-enactors outside on the weekends are another great addition. What a fantastic time we had!

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the birthplace of Danish monarchy. The grave hills are impressive, so are the menhirs with the engravings. But icing on the cake is the beautiful museum (free of charge) explaining the underlying history of the place. You cas a look in the lives of the Vikings, their kings, their way of living (including food, use of... More

Newly opened, the (free) museum is Well worth a visit - entusiastic people showed us around in a preview as they opened the next day, but still let us in 👍 check the binoculars on the roof terrace showing you the various milleniums from year 500 bc up till now. Of course you should also see the Church, the mounds... More

The birthplace of Danish Christianity is appropriately serene, surrounded by verdant meadows and well-maintained graves. The road signs to get here were not clear, which is surprising because of its importance. A new museum is being built, hope it does not bring in a rowdy crowd. We came on a Saturday afternoon when the weather was a little cool and... More

It is hard to imagine that the drawings/writings on these stones are over 1000 years old. Or even the size of these stones. So glad they are now protected behind glass. We didn't visit the church but did climb to the top of the mound. What a view!

Having seen a reference to this place we decided to make a sidestep from our normal route. We didn't know the exact location but as soon as we found out the place was called Jelling and not Vejle we couldn't mis. First impression was a beautiful church, lit by the sun, against a dark cloudy sky. Then we saw the... More

If you have a sense for history this place is great. Its in the center of pleasant smalltown Jelling, and houses viking remains (burial grounds/mounds) and a quite good museum (opens summer '15). The "Jelling-Stone" wich describes the entry of christianity into Denmark is the main attraction.
