waaaaw!

visited this museum with our 6 year old little girl. she absolutely loved it. Better to calculate half a day: as there is quite a lot to see and to do.

This was one of the places in Foix that really gave us a feeling for the historical life of the people who actually lived and worked in the south of France. The blacksmiths and other craftsmen demonstrated their ancient skills and we got to see marvelous artifacts. The restaurant is spacious and well-priced. We highly recommend this to both families... Great place to spend half a day or even a whole day with your kids. Excellent attraction with different activities and show. The hosts are very enthusiastic about their trade. There is also a playground and a snack/restaurant for some downtime. Good price for families. It takes at least 2,5 hours to do the whole tour.

We enjoyed our visit to Les Forges since there was lots of outdoor space for our children to run and explore. We all liked the farm equipment display. We enjoyed the demonstrations but, of course, they were all in French. The blacksmith was the best since language wasn't needed to watch him bang hot iron. The shoe demonstration was difficult... What made our visit to this Museum and Exhibition is the actual life like demonstrations which were an absolute hit with my young kids. I must thanks all the previous fellow travelers with their reviews and comments as they made a huge difference to our planning .I will just add that although it seems a day away from relaxation of... There are lots of museums around France recording the crafts of yester year, but many are little more than a random collection of old tools. The exhibits at Les Forges de Pyrene are remarkably comprehensive and beautifully present an extraordinary variety of former occupations. The static exhibitions are supported by live demonstrations, each of which last about 30 minutes and... More

This park is very well done, some of the exhibits are really fantastic. it covers the early 19th century mostky, and there are collections of farm implements and household goods amongst many other things. We saw a bread making demo, along with a class if schools kids, which was most engaging, despite being all in French. We also saw a... More

If you can tear yourself away from the beauty of the Ariege countryside whilst in the area, this is a fascinating museum to visit. All the trades and crafts from the past on display from brolly to shoe-makers, from lace to hat makers, from blacksmiths to basket makers. Absolutely fascinating. So much to see impossible to list here! Plenty of... More

A good day out, with plenty for everyone, hundreds if not thousands of historical artefacts ; domestic, rural, farming just too many to mention. Also there are demonstrations throughout the day and the forge itself is literally as it was in days gone by. Do not expect to whizz round the place- so make a reservation for lunch in the... More
