The hall is lovely and well kept, but you only get at tour of the downstairs as the upstairs is roped off. Having said that the tour lasted an hour and the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The gardens are well manicured and full of dahlias of all colours-stunning. There is a small but nice gift shop and a... More

Although I had checked on the website prior to visiting, we were not aware that there was a festival taking place in the grounds of the hall and gardens: this meant that a portion of the gardens was not accessible. It would have been a good idea to mention this on the events section of the website - I'm sure... More

First impressions in the entrance hall were not great - in need if some tender loving care - rest if house was OK but it rapidly between clear that this place is events orientated rather than particularly interesting for visitors. I guess they have to balance the books. One very sparse room even had recessed spotlights in the ceiling -... More

My 6 1/2 year old son and myself went along for a first time visit to nearby Kelmarsh Hall for a day of storytelling in the garden and what a day it was!! Storyteller Tom had both children and adults alike completely enthralled with his wondrous and magical tales in the lovely surroundings of the walled garden. My son likened... More

Had another afternoon last week in gardens, all this moaning about the garden/house I really don't think is fair. Lovely views across lake. Hard working staff, who always are helpful and happy. Very nice tea room and shop. Simply menu, I went with the quiche this time for a change, I good choice, no room for cake, all looked very... More

Great teas rooms that are cheap and very nice cakes too. A small shop to buy presents for, so good for a little treat. they also... More

Called in for a light lunch and for a walk and some fresh air in the gardens. Lunch was ok with freshly prepared well garnished sandwiches and bottles of local ale. The gardens were disappointing and lacked the colour of other gardens visited this month. Many of the areas needed care and attention presumably due to lack of resources. Disappointing... More

We visited Kelmarsh Hall second Thursday of July on a lovely day, the house tour was very enjoyable and was about one hour and a quarter which meant we did not feel rushed and were able to take in the history of the place and appreciate the furnishings. We had a very nice light lunch, other half had a ploughman's... More

Went for lunch with my husband, he had jacket potato with bacon and sausage, he said the sausages were to die for, obviously from a locally sourced butcher, which proved to be correct after talking to the waitress. I had home made fish cakes, new potatoes and salad, could not fault anything, everything perfect. The staff in the tea room... More

Returned again, lovely place to visit, lovely views and wonderful gardens. Enjoyed a bacon & Brie Jacket potato, followed by a cream tea. What a little gem Kalmarsh is.
