Firstly Rekawa is not in North Western Province. It is in the Southern Province near Tangalle. We were disappointed in the casual approach of the nature wardens apparently running the exercise. What a surprise. Compared to the whale watching at Mirissa, Turtle watching is under-hyped in Sri Lanka. But it's incredibly worth it! A pleasant night waiting under the stars while the locals patrolled the beach, then when a turtle appeared we were able to go and watch while it laid about 100 eggs! Then we watched this giant prehistoric beast...
