This might not be the slickest museum with the latest interactive guides and videos, but you know what? I like it just the way it is! And what's more, I don't think you could provide a more interactive, fascinating, fun and friendly guide than the lovely man who spent so much time with us this afternoon giving us a great... More

Coldharbour Mill is a working museum. Many will be fascinated by the old machinery in itself, but it is when it is put in motion with the benefit of a knowledgeable guide that it really comes to life. The site is important in the history of the area and tells an interesting tale. Steam buffs will love the steam engines... More

Really interesting woollen mill with machinery and working steam engine; helpful assistants to explain the spinning and weaving processes. Good cafe too!

Coldharbour Mill is a fascinating insight into the the woollen industry. The best time to visit for total atmosphere is on "steam up days" . Wow! Seeing the well maintained machinery coming to life is quite something. It's noisy and the thought that "back in the day" children sat under these machines is frankly terrifying. The restaurant is pretty good,... More

This industrial archaeology site hold tremendous promise. Unfortunately, this is not a very well managed attraction (the word amateur comes to mind). It could so easily improve. There is poor signage to the site. Once there we have very poor interpretation. The top floor museum lacks a professional touch. I must say, however, the demonstrator on the looms was really... If you are interested in how things work then this is the museum for you. I'm not convinced that the self-guided tour would be useful, but we were fortunate that Ian, who runs the mill, gave us a lot of his time. The restaurant is in a lovely, tranquil setting next to the Culm river.

Lovely setting, old Victorian buildings and all in a quiet village. Wonderful to see all the machinery still working and still producong wool and cloth. Loved the WW2 exhibition and mini cinema, son loved the model railway. The dolls house display was very good too. Worrh coming in the summer holidays when they have an exhibition of artwork by local... More

This rare example of textile manufacturing industrial heritage is very convenient for travellers through mid-Devon, being within about a mile of M5 jct27 (where the North Devon link road commences), but is easy to miss, owing to an absence of signs from the M'way. But head East towards Uffculme and signs appear! The site contains a working woolen production area,... More
