This beach had soft white sand but I didn't care much for it. There is a fee to get in and there are prettier beaches that are free entry. If you like a lot of shade and trees it's ok but there were a lot of debris from the trees in the sand. It wasn't crowded at all when we... More

Lots of locals here, but tourists will love it too! Lots of shade trees, fantastic snorkeling, and clean bathrooms.

Of all the beaches that I've visited on the Big Island, Beach 69 has become my favorite. It has easy access over paved roads and a great parking area. The parking kiosk even takes credit cards for the $5 visitor fee. Walking past the substantial restrooms and shower area, an incredible scene of liquid blue and inviting sand beckons through... More

We travel over 6,000 miles (from coastal VA) to spend a week or two on this beach whenever possible!!!!! We rent a home here now after our initial visit in 2007. Cheaper than renting a house at the Outer Banks in NC when we get free airfare (which we normally do). Colorful reef fish, moray eels, green sea turtles, and... More

Peter at Snorkel Bob Mauna Lani recommended this beach for snorkeling. The waves were good on this day so the kids spent quite a bit of time snorkeling and boogie boarding. Beach is very family friendly especially for youngsters(I think better than Kua Bay), offers excellent snorkeling and swimming opportunities. It is a small narrow picturesque beach with lots of... We found out about this gorgeous beach from another tourist on another excursion and boy were we glad we did! It was very close to our lodging (Waikoloa Marriott) but a world away from a tourist trap. This beach is frequented by local families. There are many shade trees and although it can get a bit crowded by the afternoon,... More

Just a beautiful, family friendly beach. Trees for shade, few, if any, waves, snorkeling opportunities - very close to resorts near Waikaloa. I think only. $5 fee - a definite for families with small kids.

Beach 69 is a fabulous beach. It has plenty of trees near the water so you don't have sit in the sun. It's not nearly as crowded as Kua Bay and Hapuna. Most of the people on the beach are locals. There are changing facilities. Many people leave during the day and head to nearby eateries like Cafe Presto and... More

The trees mean you won't burn and sweat all day plus they are gorgeous. There is awesome snorkeling and the warm, clear water makes you want to stay in all day for swimming. There were great bathrooms and showers, though no food available. We saw all sorts of fish and primarily snorkeled the northern portion of the cove and beyond... More
