Looooove this beach!! When Hapuna beach next door has full of wood stuff floating in the water and not very clean, go to 69 beach instead! This is the most picturesque beach in all Hawaiian island ( I've been to Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Hawaii ). Only bad is that we have to pay $5 to get in. But everytime... More

Stopped by this beach after the lifeguards got everyone out of the water at Hapuna Beach due to a Portuguese Man-o-war sighting. There were many families and kids who seem to enjoy the shade. It was a weekday but quite crowded since school was not in session yet. I found that the soft sand had lots of dried twigs, cigarette... More

This beach is adjacent to Hapuna Beach and shares the $5 entrance fee, so you can visit both beaches on one ticket. Hapuna is great for boogie boarding. Beach 69 is smaller but has much more shade than Hapuna. The free swimming area is fairly small and generally calm. This beach is best for snorkeling. The snorkeling is wonderful and... More

Also known as beach 69. Includes toilets and showers. Slopes gently into the water. Nice swimming conditions. More used by locals. Has lots of trees giving nice shade. Also some residence at the back.

This is a wonderful beach. It has a great sandy area for swimming and also several places for snorkeling. We have done both there. The big difference between Hapuna beach, right next to it, it the shade. Hapuna is all beach with very little shade, where 69ers has tons of places to sit under shade trees. The parking lot here... A local told us to take the extra 2 mile drive from Hapuna to go to the quieter more secluded beach. Not sure if the secret is out, but when we got there it felt busier than Waikiki beach (it was in the late afternoon on a Sunday). There were so many people jammed into the narrow strip of sand,... They have a restroom, parking lot, and feet washing station. Lots of shade trees along the whole beach, and the sand was smooth (no rough pebbles to hurt your feet)

I prefer this beach to Hapuna beach. They share the same road, but this one is about 2 miles further down the road so it attracts less crowd. There is plenty of shade trees here. The reef on the north (right) side of the beach is awesome. It is very extensive and closer to shore than the reef at Hapuna... More

This beach is off the beaten path but well worth it. The beach itself is relatively narrow and dotted with clusters of trees - some right to the water's edge. Msg there is plenty of shade especially in the morning. There are great sections for kids that are protected by lava formations from breaking waves. There's plenty of snorkeling here... More
