This beach was about a 45 minute drive from where we were staying in Kona, but well worth the drive. It felt very secluded even though it was quite busy when we went. The beach was picturesque and very well-shaded. A perfect spot to spend the day at! Make sure to bring your chairs and a picnic lunch! We went... More

I kind of don't want to give this a positive review because part of what we loved about this beach was that there weren't a lot of people there! You've got to pay $5 for parking, but that's not a big problem for what you get here. There are plenty of trees so you can tuck in the shade when... More

Beach 69 is my absolute favorite beach on the island of Hawaii. The water is pretty clear, and the waves are smaller than Hapuna beach or Mauna Kea beach most days. The sand drops off pretty quickly, so it gets deep fairly close to shore. Also, the beach isn't too busy, which is nice.

Recently visited this beach for the first time and loved it! Plenty of shady areas, picnic tables, not crowded, calm water for swimming, snorkeling, and paddle boarding, beautiful scenery, perfect! And please respect the $5 parking fee, as it seems to be on the 'honor system'. As a tourist, I don't mind paying to park at some of the beaches... More

Not as crowded as Hapuna Beach (just a mile away) and even more beautiful. It's secluded and is great for snorkeling. Don't expect a lot from the restrooms, but you're there for the beach.

This beach is it! Nice white sand with plenty of shaded areas. Good snorkeling (saw lots of colorful fish!), easy to access. Bathrooms located near the parking lot. Wish we would have had more time to go back.

Great beach with easy walk from parking lot. A $5 parking pass gives you a full day of fun! Adequate trees for shade or sit in the sun and ramp up your tan a few notches!

While not a stereotypically "perfect" beach like Hapuna which is just to the north, this beach is much more quaint. The beach has trees that produce great shade coming down almost to the water's edge, meaning you can spend the whole day there without getting too hot or getting badly burned. The beach is sandy and great for playing in... More

We have stopped in to visit beaches all along this shore and this one is our favorite. Lots of shade, areas for easy access into the water and good snorkeling. Restrooms where you can change and an outside shower to get the sand off! Beautiful water.

My wife and I checked out the beach at Waialea (also known as beach 69 because of the nearest mile marker on highway 19). We should have paid a $5 non-resident parking fee but the machine was out of action. We decided to head to the south section of the beach, finding a spot between the trees. The beach was... More
