Nice quiet beach to visit if you do not want to be around a lot of people. Many locals come here from what I noticed. Wonderful views and relaxing environment.

Too much sand stirred up and a rocky shore can sneak up on you. Watch December weather closely before attempting! Nice locals and lovely Puako town will be a return for us.

If you want a break from the hotel beaches this is a great place. Also, if it is windy and waves are higher, this beach tends to stay calmer

We loved every beach we went to in Hawaii for different reasons, but this was our favorite! We visited in June with small children and this beach is just incredibly family friendly. The water was so gentile and clear. There are interesting twisted, gnarled trees that grow close to the water that provide great shade to set up under for... More

Very rustic and natural, driftwood and trees. Swimming was nice and snorking OK near the rocks....picturesque small beaches along the bay.

This small beach has some unique lava rock formations and trees. The trees will give you shade and natural privacy. There were a lot of people stand up paddling and boogie boarding.

Hard to pick out the favorites on a snorkel trip, but this beach was very much worth stopping at.. Beach is very nice also if you like just sitting on the beach.

My cousin and I came hear about an hour before sunset on our first full day to the Big Island. We were originally going to swim at Hapuna Beach but the gate attendant told us to come here instead. I am so glad she did. If you pay at Hapuna you do not need to pay again at this beach.... More

We've been to this beach before and enjoyed its laid back atmosphere. But this was the first time we went snorkeling and we really enjoyed it! We followed the shoreline rocks to the North/right and saw turtles, as well as good fish and coral. After a break we snorkeled the middle of the bay around the rocks. Even better! TIP:... More

we spent a few hours at this lovely beach! white sand, plenty of shade (even close to the water) due to the trees. snorkeling was OK the day we went, but we used it as a day to practice with our newly rented equipment, and just enjoy the beautiful water and beach. clean restrooms were a plus and that along...
