My son and I went snorkling here and loved it. This place is not for beginners of snorkling! I loved the whole experience cause there are not a lot of people. The locals wish to be left alone but will talk to you and give some advice if you will listen. Like most of the Hawaiian beaches were some surf... More

As mentioned, $5 parking. We liked it because it because of the different feel that large trees near the water gave it.

Went to this beach as we heard it was "au natural." Little tricky to find. $5 to park. Had bathrooms, outdoor showers, picnic tables. The view, when you get to the beach, which is a short walk from the parking lot, is like a postcard. Breathtaking! The beach itself is narrow, but long and curved, flanked by rocks and banyon... Great place to snorkel and swim. You will want to arrive early as this beach get many visitors. Plenty of spots for those looking to sit in the shade and the sun. This beach has a secluded beach feel. If you're looking to boogie board this is not the spot, but the snorkeling was awesome and very close to the... More

We stopped in for some swimming, the surf was up and most beaches we visited were to rough to get in the water with snorkel gear, this beach is more protected, and the swimming was great, the water was not very clear however as the water was fairly bumpy. This beach seems very popular with the locals and that says... More

This beach, known by the local population as "69 Beach", apparently referring to an old numbered utility pole that marked the turn-off, is a terrific spot for shaded picnics or just lounging about as it offers many private & intimate "pockets" of beach area amongst the trees that line this popular waterfront state park. While it is popular with many... More

Used to be a great beach before they built the parking area . Now it is truly packed most days. Say hello to Neil Young if you see him stroll by.

Love the trees that line the beach great for shade and climbing and to hang wet towels from. Very mellow vibe and quiet. Waves are a little intense for kids to swim but sand is so soft and fine that building sand castles is awesome. Definitely recommended if in the area

Visited the beach today; just off the highway. $5 parking fee; cards accepted. Nice sandy beach areas, easy to get in and out of water. Relatively calm, bit of a shorebreak. Snorkeling may have been OK but water was cloudy. Great spot for families and fairly quiet.

Various Big Island guides talk about this beach as if it's an undiscovered paradise. It gets enough attention that I assumed that it would no longer be as quiet as it had been billed. In fact, it still has that private beach feel about it. Unlike Hapuna Beach, it doesn't have an enormous expanse of sand stretching hundreds of meters... More
