What a beautiful sight! One of the loveliest beaches in all of Hawaii. The sand is white, and the public facilities are excellent, but it can be crowded.

This is our favorite beach! It is beautiful, long, awesome sand. The public access has changing facilities, showers, bathrooms and a small place for food and rental of beach stuff. The waves can get big here so you have to be aware of that.

Four years ago we visited this beach, the waves were perfect for boogie boarding. My kids couldn't stop talking about this beach until now. However, this time, we had to pay for the entrance fee of $5. The ocean was too calm for boogie boarding ( great for snorkeling ). Second time when we were there, there were lots of... More

It's a pretty beach, even compared with Maui, where almost every beach is stunning. Sand is white and clean, water quiet (at least it was during our visit in May). No natural shade, so be careful. I only didn't like the fact that it's so popular- really a lot of people there.

Hapuna beach is a gorgeous, white sand, and long beach. We visited Aug. 13 2015 and not surprisingly there were many many people. We drove from Kilua Kona at air temperature showing 84F, but when driving through the lava showing 106F! We didn't consider how bad the sunshine heat the dark lave road, so my wife and I both got... Liked the sand, no rocks! Arrive early, limited parking spaces! $5.00 all day, no cash, only credit cards! The waves were fun! They have places you can sit in the shade! Snack bar, near by! Spent about 2 hours there! Will go again!

Although it's probably the most crowded beach we visited on the Big Island, its gorgeous white sand and blue water are worth the easy drive from the highway. Visitors to the island will need to pay $5 to park within the park, but we were happy to support the continued maintainence of this lovely piece of paradise. Body surfing and... More

Beautiful beach. Not very crowded (even on weekends). Plenty of parking, cheap entry fee ($5 for out of state residents; free if you are Kamaaina). Very clean facility including benches, barbecues and showers. Highly recommended!

Beautiful clear water, just enough waves for some great family boogie boarding. Lifeguard, parking, rental facility, showers, bathrooms, etc. Very clean and convenient!
