We've been to beaches all over and this is among the best we've been to! It has great sand, clear water, and great waves for boogie boarding. Our smaller kids had a great time swimming and riding the waves. They are big enough for the big kids to have a great time (and the waves further out) and the waves... More

This is the best beach I have been to and I have been to a lot! The sand is clean and white, the water is sky blue, and the crowds are minimal. We found a nice piece of shade and spent several hours boogy boarding...so much fun to catch a wave and ride it into the shore! Bring a lunch... More

I have been to beaches all over the world and this is by far one of the bests. The water is blue/green, white sandy beach which is a rarity on west shore of The Big Island. Great parking, peak season you will want to get there early. Great for families and boggie boarders. Had a wonderful day

One of the few sandy beaches on Big Island! Lovely beach, a bit crowded but I didn't mind. There are very strong rip tides so the life guards are on alert at all times and will get after anyone swimming outside of the safe areas. The waves are perfect for boogie boarding! And there are decent facilities and a few... More

The perfect park and beach to spend the day. It's a nice sandy beach. Lots to watch. And a very nice park as well.

It was gorgeous beach but the waves were crazy high when we went. During calm season, I am sure it was absolutely beautiful.

Amazing spot to watch the sun set. The sand is soft and clean, and you can walk out 100 yards into the water. Great waves for bodyboarding, and nice showers for cleaning off. There are lots of picnic tables and shelters for making your own meals. There is a place to rent beach equipment and boards, but I think they... More

Having seen most of the big island on our trip, I can definitely say this is hands down the best beach for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing! There are a variety of beaches on the island with different colors and consistencies of sand, scenery, and amounts of wind. And of course, people have different definitions of a "perfect beach." But this... More

If you're grilling out or just eating a sandwich, the views from the picnic tables are unbeatable. The swimming is good; it's very child friendly beach, but the sunsets and winter whale watching are what make the day perfect.

Hapuna Beach is beautiful and the beach is large and very accessible, however It is really, really crowded. The sand is light and the surf is good but there are way too many inexperienced people in the water and the life guards have their hands full.
