For each time I have been to the big island, we never miss going to Hapuna. Love the sand, love the waves, love the people, love the view and they have descent amenities. One suggestion is get there early so you can find a spot, because this beach fills up mid-morning. Side note: $5 dollar parking/state park fee. (It is... More

While we visited Hawaii we went to Hapuna beach three times and each time was great! The beach is only a five minute walk along a cement trail from the parking lot to the beach. There is a handicap parking lot that is right on the beach, which is very convenient. There are a couple of showering areas in different... More

This beach is all you'd expect a Hawaiian beach to be. Bright white sand, crystal clear water, tropical vegetation with lots of palm trees. Be prepared for hot hot hot sand as the sun endlessly shines down and it's a good idea to have an umbrella or something to provide you shade as there is not really anything to do... More

Very nice sandy beach on the big island. It is a state park so it was a little crowded but nothing that took away from our enjoyment of the beach. We rented chairs and an umbrella prior to arriving but they do have some beach equipment for rent on site. Parking is $5 for non HI residents. It is a... More

We visited this beach a week ago and loved it. It is a beautiful beach, with calm and clear water (at least when we were there) and the kids loved it. There isn't a lot of shade, so be prepared for full sun or bring an umbrella. It can get crowded, so definitely arrive early. The lifeguards were great at... More

If you are a visitor to this beach do not attempt to ride waves here (bodysurf/bodyboard) & check with lifeguards before entering the water. This beach has claimed many life's, left many paralyzed ( from head first wipeouts ) CHECK WITH THE LIFEGUARDS!!!

Clear water, sandy beach/bottom, plenty of room, food, rest rooms, but not too commercialized (you can rent beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.). Only $5 to get in, reasonable parking - we got there early (before 10 am, but when we left at around 1 pm, it was getting more crowded.

State park, so it only cost $5 per car. Parking is fairly close to the beach, with a large grassy area and pavilion between the patking lot and the beach. Very nice, large, white sand beach. Several old coral reefs just off shore. Snorkeled with plenty of fish and a very contented turtle, who just kept grazing while I watched.

Wow! The views of this beach are spectacular! The water crystal clear. The day we went it was rather windy but I was told that is not common. We stopped by to check out this beach and came back the next day to stay longer. You do have to pay $5.00 to park, but I would say it is worth... More

When we went there really weren't a lot of people, we had an amazing time snorkelling there, I think I would have spent my whole vacation on this beach if I could have!
