WOW

Beautiful clean waters. Great for snorkeling, swimming, and playing. Very clean and soft sand. Good tide pool area for kids. Nice warm water and the bluest water I have ever seen.

Very nice beach. Parking is $5. There are restrooms, shaded picnic tables and a snack shack. The reefs of the rocky points on both ends are very good spots for snorkeling, but probably best for strong swimmers as the reef starts several hundred yard off shore

We went snorkling with equipment from the Mauna Lani Resort and the site was great. It was wavy and a little hard to get started because of a rocky shoreline, but once in the water, the coral was beautiful and the fish plentiful. Great variety of fish and the water very clear. There was a minimal park entrance fee, but... More

A lovely stretch of beach! Our last night at the Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel included a walk on the soft sands and moonlite beach. We were the lone couple on the whole beach the entire time! It was like a private beach. We spent about 4 full days on this beach and it was amazing. The waves were just enough... More

If you're not happy with black sand and rocky small beaches, pack up and head to hapuna! When you get there and see the vast wide open gorgeous white sand beach and clear blue water you will sigh and say "ahhhh... yes. This is what I was looking for." This is a true hawaiian beach. Pack your chairs, umbrella, radio,... More

Was a 30 minute drive for us but was worth the journey as the beach is clean, good to swim in and has facilities. You have to pay to park here but well worth it. Was voted one of best 5 beaches in the U.S jus recently.

We stopped at Hapuna Beach on our way back from Hawi in the late afternoon. Large, wide beach great for boogie boarding and swimming. Largely unprotected from the sun, so best to bring umbrella and chairs. Easy access to beach for everyone. Pretty sunsets. Rock jumping to the far south side. Saw several people taking family pictures here. $5 per... More

I was staying in Kailua & I wanted to do some body boarding & asked at the local rental store. He actually advised me NOT to rent from him because the waves come out of the southwest this time of year, so he did not recommend tourists out on the local beaches unless they are intermediate boarders/surfers or better, the... We were renting house in Wailakoa willage and this was our closest beach. It costs about 5usd to enter, and it is beautiful!! Wide, lifeguard on duty, perfect picknick opportunities - tables, chairs, grill all for free. Good areas for sunbathing, either sand or green areas a lot. Good swimming, surfing. And most amazing place to see sunset! While waiting... More

Hapuna Beach is a beautiful beach along Highway 19 about 30 to 40 minutes from Kona. This was the only beach in the area where we found waves big enough for the kids to boggie board. There isn't a lot of shade so bring an umbrella, but the beach and views are gorgeous.
