The beach here is enormous by Kona standards. Yes you have to pay to park but this is gorgeous. Costs money to keep it that way. Great for boogie boarding. Safe and never ending waves. Great beach to stroll. It gets really hot, so bring your cold drinks and an umbrella for shade. The cave at the end to the... More

After snorkeling at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel Beach, we drove to Hapuna Beach just to check it out. It certainly deserves it's reputation as a wonderful beach. The sand is absolutely very fine sugar sand and the shoreline has a very gradual incline into the ocean. You can wade out a very long way and you are only waist... More

On our last trip this was the go to beach for our kids, and number 1 on their list for our latest visit. The beach is big, and even when crowded does not feel like it. Beautiful white sand and excellent wave breaks for kids if all ages to learn body surfing or boogie boarding. Caution is required in bigger... More

This beach always makes it to the top of the Hawaiian beaches and it's clear why. It has a lot of advantages: - It's big. It can absorb any crowd. - Clean sand is precious in Hawaiian beaches. - It has nice mild waves and shallow shore making it kids friendly. - It's facing West, so the sunsets are perfect!... More

We spent a day at Hapuna Beach, and it was probably the best beach day ever! It was a bit windy, so we had problems with our rented umbrella, but they had umbrellas and chairs available for rent. The downside - the rental office didn't open until 10am, and we'd already been there for a couple hours. The sand is... More

This is a popular beach for locals. Even so, it's big enough not to be "Waikiki crowded". The surf is just rowdy enough to be fun, soft sand and warm water. It's the ideal Hawaii beach!

We went to many beaches around the whole island but found this one to be the best. The sand was clean and white. The waves were great for swimming with lots of boogie boards. We loved the surf and the area. There was a $5.00 charge to get into the beach but some parked outside and walked in because the... More

Spent Christmas Day, 2014 here, and it was a great way to spend the holiday! This beach has it all - excellent sandy beach, Maui in the distance, a place to see fish towards the north end, showers, restrooms, a food stand, shade, etc. For all of those reasons, it was very crowded the day we visited. You must pay... More

One of the best beaches on the island. Great for fun in the waves. I have been here numerous times and always have a good time. It does get crowded some days so get your spot early!
