We booked a trek with Dumaguete Outdoors to the summit of Canloan Volcano. They are not used to international customers. They wanted a deposit and wanted us to transfer money upfront to a bank account in the Philippines which was very costly. They refused to take over their share of the transaction costs. Payment via PayPal was unkown to the... More

Did a 3D2N trek of Mt. Canlaon from Canlaon City. There are different trails going up the volcano. We did one of the easier ones. Some trails would require climbing up from the side of Bacolod, some from Canlaon City. Enjoy the lush forest of the mountains and get awed by the huge crater of the volcano. You should be... More

Mt Kalinis was a good hike and if you have time I suggest to make it 2 days. Camp nearby the top at around 2000 m and make also another peak nearby (it is better to have your own tent and primus as in the village they do not have a proper ones as they told me). As I just... More

Did not think that much of a trip to a volcano but was offered a free trip to hike to the top of canloan. WOW! What a great hike. Very strenuous and steep but worth every bead of sweat. Incredible views for the top. Absolutely awesome

We climbed with a company called Dumaguete Outdoors. Avoid at all costs - very expensive and unprofessional. We weren't the only ones who thought this on our trek - and funnily enough everyone planned to send a complaint email and didn't want to pay the remaining balance. The organisation was poor - most alarming was the lack of water on... More

Had opportunity to spend over a month in this town at base of Mt. Canlaon (volcano of the gods for linquistic fans) . Didn't climb the volcano but went to a # of pristine waterfalls and natural springs. None in the town proper but all within 25 to 40 minute motorcycle/ car ride. Last stop katularie resort. Philippine/American owner Larry... More

there's nothing much to discover if you're not trekking Canlaon Volcano up to the crater. but for the people who prefer photos than adventure, just make sure you get there in a sunny day, or else, all you'll see is clouds

I truly believe the rugged, unspoiled ridge between Negros Occidental and Oriental will emerge as Negros' greatest eco-tourist asset in the years ahead. Go with a recommended guide (Sentinel Mountaineering, Yagum Yuman and Island Life Adventure to name a couple). Prepare yourself mentally and physically for the challenge of wading through mud, stumbling up tree roots and battling razor sharp... More

this is the last city covered in the northernmost part of Negros Oriental Province. takes 4 hrs bus ride from Dumaguete. this cone or openning of the volcano can be viewed from the city of Canlaon if you wake up early before the cone gets covered with clouds. the weather is quite better than Dumaguete and fresh farm products can...
