A town of Art and HistoryMedieval city of ConflansTo enter Conflans by the “Porte de Savoie” is to enter into history. Streets and alleways have stayed the same as the time of the Green Count, Amédée VI, count of Savoy. On the Roman road from Milan to Vienna via the Petit Saint Bernard pass, Conflans witnessed the passage of merchants, peddlers, and pilgrims.Today, Conflans welcomes you all year round in its maze of narrow streets, on its shady terraces full of flowers, and in its colourful boutiques.

Stayed here for about 2 weeks in Le Cheval Blanc, a sweet little B&B in the center. When you come to Albertville you should definately visit Conflans! It's not the most exciting but the history behind the city is interesting and there is a few good restaurants to visit. Be warned however, you cannot get into the city with a... More

Conflans is a short but steep walk from Albertville centre, (or a short drive, with parking on the back end of the old city). The old city itself is not that great. Below average from my experience. But, there is a nice view of the city from the beautiful courtyard at the top of the old city and there are... More

We were only passing-by rather rapidly. After the summer season and on a Monday, most shops were closed, but we could guess the place must be much more lively at times. Beautiful village, though.

Really good value for money. We visited early in the afternoon when most of the other businesses were closed. The displays were interesting and well laid out and it was very useful to have the English language audio guide, which worked well. Pleasant welcoming staff. A great way to spend a rainy afternoon.

There was a cheerful welcome from students in medieval dress at the entrance but the village owed a lot to cement and paint rather than real restoration. Most of the artisan shops were closed. The square was filled with restaurants with basically the same menu. The view over Albertville was the best part of the visit

There are several car parks on the road leafdng to Conflans ranging from a shortish walk up a hill or steps to being almost level...if you're not greatly mobile, keep driving up the hill till you can go no further. There are public toilets just up an alley off the main square. There are also various cafes in the square... More

About a 15 minute walk just on the outskirts of Albertville up a not too steep road. You can drive to the car parks if you wish just below the town itself. Despite the signs saying it's pedestrianized. It Isn't. Lots of cars motorcycles ect use the roads in the centre. Probably the locals. I was there about 12.30 to... More

Must see in Albertville. Nice medieval town on the top of the hill. Good sightseeing over the city, museum, old square with small restaurants.

We visited this charming Medieval town just a short drive up from Albertville. It is mainly pedestrianised with lovely streets, panoramic views, an ancient town, pretty church and several reasonably priced restaurants. The museum, La Maison Rouge, was worth a visit.

Didn't have enough time for this area...spent too much time at the Olympics museum which was a waste of time. Seeing the other visitor's photos of this made me realize how much we missed. Several in the group were not up to more walking, so a couple of us managed to see a few streets. Ran into a young paraglider... More
