If you are interested in natural history and in the beauty of the swamp, Madoo's offers a much more intimate tour (less chance of noisy boat-mates who can disturb the wildlife and the serenity) than the other operator (Nanan's) and is definitely worth the slightly higher cost. Having tried both several times over the last few years I now always... More

Seeing the flocks of scarlet ibis as they return to their roosting island is thrilling. We were very happy with the service provided by Madoo's. We arranged our transportation from Port of Spain with them. The driver, Chris, was courteous and punctual. Cost, return for transport was $300TT. Our guide, Darren, was pleasant and professional. Madoo's say that they keep... More

Small company .... big tour Took this tour last year with Shawn and he was not available to tour this time, but assured me his brother is just as good. Darren it was wonderful touring with you, and Shawn thanks for stopping by to visit. Once again, you really know how to make my the best out of my adventure.... More

If you've been in mangroves and swamps and have done this sort of tour before, this one can be skipped, unless your interest is seeing the Ibis'. Those moments are quite good. As a lifelong snake keeper and having a taxidermist friend, I can say for certain that the snakeskin in the tree was placed there, and I'm very, very... More

Experience the flora and fauna of one of Trinidad's protected wildlife sites in a comfortable setting with excellent tour guides. There are other operators of bird tours at this reserve but Madoo's had a smaller boat with very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating tour guide which lent to a more intimate and satisfied tour. Take the advise of a local and... More

Going with the flow while visiting friends in Trinidad, I had the most wonderful tour of the Caroni swamp, seeing several species of birds, and other wildlife. Sean was the an excellent tour guide and was able to point out things that were so camouflaged that I wondered how he could spot them! He was very talented and knowledgeable and... More

Did a specific trip with Sean Madoo to photograph migrant shorebirds at the mouth of the Caroni River. This was a fruitful trip with a pleasant and amiable Sean. He is a good spotter and tries to ensure that the goals you have set for your trip are realized. He, himself, is quite knowledgeable but what immediately struck me, is... More

Using advice from tripadvisor I chose to tour Caroni swamp with the Madoo team. Darren and Sean are both highly regarded and rightly so. The boys alternate driving the boat and on our visit Sean was in charge. Although I am sure the regular haunts are well known to all the boatmen Sean still did very well and picked out... More

These guys could not do enough for us. We discussed the wildlife we wanted to photograph, and they located all of them. They expertly drove the boat into position, giving plenty of time and the best possible opportunities for photography. They were personable, helpful, and polite. Even though we had pre-booked a private boat to ourselves, the costs were very... More

If you want to see mangrove endemic birds and other wildlife like silky anteaters and tree boas, Madoo is the best. As a university biology professor, I lead student and community tours to Trinidad often and I always use Shawn Madoo. He is an encyclopedia on the mangrove ecosystem. With his sharp eye and powerful laser pointer, he can show... More
