I visited Arne one Saturday afternoon with my son and his partner on the recommendation of a friend. The path through the woods was a very easy one and, although we were restricted for time, we did reach a stretch that had views across Poole harbour. Although we didn't see many birds, there were sika deer in an adjoining field,... More

An absolutely amazing place - rural, beautiful and peaceful. If you are lucky you will see lots of deer, we have been to Arne a few times and only once have we not seen any deer. There are lots of birds, so a great place if you are interested in bird watching and there is a lovely quiet beach. An... More

We were recommended this by a friend. Never knew this was here even after several visits to Dorset. Didn't come here for the birds just to walk the dog so can't comment on them. Parking only £2 for 2 hours. We did the longest red walk which took 80 minutes as suggested by map. The walk is really beautiful leading... More

Finally came here after a few people telling me how nice it was. Car parking was £2 for up to 2 hours £4 for over 2 hours, free if you are a member. There was a visitor centre by the car park, the lady there was helpful and gave us a map with suggested walks as we had not been... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our day at Arne. The staff/ volunteers at the visitor centre were really friendly, welcoming and helpful on recent sightings. We did the nature trail on the main part of the site in the morning. A wonderful walk with stunning views over Poole harbour with a picnic on the beach. In the afternoon we walked the heathland... Apparently there was supposed to be a special raptor weekend on the day we visited with several staffed raptor watching locations set around the reserve, we walked round over half of it but saw no watch locations, staff or raptors. Apart from a couple of seagulls and half a dozen sika deer there wasn't much wildlife at all. A bit... More

Hello there Doug, Sorry to hear about your visit. It sounds like you walked off onto the main visitor trails rather than grabbing a 'Raptor Weekend' map, information and directions from the staff in the visitor hut. Two of the staffed viewpoints were in areas not usually open to the public and the other was on our Coombe Heath Trail.... More

excellent reserve even though we only saw about half of it so we will go back to see the rest one day, the reason we only saw half of it was because we were lucky enough to watch an osprey flying onto a platform there after catching a fish in the estuary and then eating it. One tip if you... More

I arrived at the reserve about Midday. Large free Car Park and Toilet Block. The small Visitor Centre was manned and staff gave us a clear map and directions. We saw many deer including a famous albino one. Superb views over Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. Wonderful 2 level viewing hide gave us good views of both Spoonbills and Bournemouth... More

Our third visit this year. What a lovely place. Someone moaned (3 star comment) the parking is expensive. Huh? £2 for 2 hours for for of us to have a great walk? I think that is brilliant value for money. The staff are so friendly! Get a map and off you go. You CANNOT get lost if you follow the... More

Visited here 3 times and love the quietness, the views and birds singing amongst the trees. Saw a huge herd of deer the first time. Lovely walks including one to the beach where you can chill out with a good book or magazine. Highly recommended to chill out if you enjoy the countryside. Also, RSPB cabin is full of useful... More
