Following on from 2 very stormy February days,we visited Arne on a bright, sunny morning and it was wonderful. Very few people about so parking was easy. A lot of the walking was fairly flat and we ended up on a small secluded beach. A couple of other visitors were getting excited as there were spoonbills to be seen, but not being... More

Were visited this reserve on a very windy wet day. The heath land was very attractive in even in these conditions. There are three bird hides. In the one on the Red walk we saw Spoon Bills. The other two are on the other side of the carpark. To visit all three took four hours.

Arne is a must, if you like bird watching. There are various varieties of deer and there is a white stag that emerges from the woods every so often, lovely. The rutting season, in the autumn is an interesting time to go, you have to be a bit careful and discreet, as their blood's up, stags are much more temperamental... More

Great free guided walk around reserve today , led by Luke who had plenty of knowledge about the wildlife and the reserve. Our first visit , very impressed and will be back when we are in this area again

The car parks were very busy when we arrived one midweek day in November. Access is free, but you have to pay to park your car unless you are an RSPB member. For the size of the reserve, it is a pity that there are not better visitor facilities. The wooden hut in the car park is the only visitor... More

You drive down a long lane from Wareham across a lot of open heathland. The reserve is managed by the RSPB so members get the car park free while other pay up to £4 for 4 hours. There ware good toilets and a wellmanned information booth. Three trails are on offer but we chose the longest, the red trail which... More

We visited on a lovely sunny day in September, we chose to do the red route which covers most habitats in the reserve, the car park was 4 pound or 2 pound for a shorter stay and there were reserve rangers on hand to assist. The picnic area had bird feeders with numerous woodland and garden birds. We encountered a... More

We decided on the red trail, which looked the longest and it was still only about an hour and a half to complete the route. Plenty of deer and birds along the way to photograph and enjoy. Will certainly come again in different seasons to see how it changes.
