For a couple of hours for a wander round the lake and a picnic by the castle there aren't many better places in Derby. Small charge to park but there's often events on like craft and food fairs.

A lovely place and always something to see. But the car park payment system angers me. Used to be a very helpful member of staff who the council got rid of in favour of machines that regularly get destroyed by vandals. For once I'm on the side of the vandals. The machines are awful, often out of order and on... More

Went here on a sunny day to have a nice walk around the castle. The gardens were very nice and there was a lot of open spaces. They had a tea room and ice cream van on aite making it easy to get a bite to eat, however there were a lot of dogs. The castle in itself was nice... More

We'll I'm about to upset the dog owning fraternity or some of them at least. We live near Glossop, my wife and I came over to mind our 20 month old grand daughter who lives in Borrowash and decided to take her to Elvaston castle and grounds as it is a nice sunny day. The grounds are beautiful and for... More

A great country park with historical features. Plenty of open space and woodland, including a secretive nature reserve. With a but of investment it could achieve so much more...adventure playground...open up the house...farm park... Let's hope plans come to fruition. Otherwise it's still a relaxing location.

Elvaston is good for walks, picnics etc. We spent hours walking and admiring the gardens, trees and wildlife, we saw quite a few herons nesting which was interesting to watch. The tea room is lovely, we had a sausage cob and it was very nice. Would recommend a visit

It's a pity the house is closed due to lack of funds for restoration. However, the park around the house is amazing. The best place for a lovely walk in the area.
