A lovely, quiet and peaceful place to go for a walk. Tucked away in the small village of Elvaston, not far from Borrowash it has ample parking and a variety of different walks and tracks you can take. Plenty of shade or sunshine - whatever you're looking for. Lots of different areas from well kept formal gardens to woodland walks.... More

Enjoyable way to spend a hour or so wandering around the Park, I wished my hedge's were like the one's here!

i will leave others to commentate upon the grounds and car parking travails. I visited by bike on a very wet and muddy day. Staff are always extremely pleasant and chatty. Food is basic but good and cyclists come here from far and wide just to taste the scones which are baked fresh each day. The raspberry scones are truly... More

Elvaston castle could be so much more than it has to offer. The building looks impressive if a little run down but with the right investment from the right group it could become a fabulous hotel and conference centre. But ignore that, the grounds are absolutely magnificent which offers manicured areas and more natural woodlands. These are beautiful all set... More

This is my local park / woodland. It's perfect for family outings, a jog or a bike ride. There is always something going on in the park (woodland festival etc) So much to do and explore. The small play area for children is good - could be bigger however it's usually quiet unless you go on a hot day in... More

Elvaston castle was my childhood playground and my visits bring back happy childhood memories. I often bring my dog for a lovely walk. The only problem I have is the parking which is too expensive. It took me over 30 mins to park last week as both card machines were broken and the cash machines do not take coppers, luckily... More

If you like a picturesque walk then you'll like it here, there are ducks to feed and a play area for the children. A courtyard cafe serves amazing cakes and refreshments. The main castle is undergoing some restoration work at the minute so there is scaffolding all over, but don't let that put you off

Easily accessible grounds with lovely walks, lake, park and cafe serving the most amazing range of scones all cooked fresh and hot from the oven. We were a mixed ability group and all were able to enjoy the extensive grounds: if you want a peaceful walk, a dog walk, a place to play ball games a different place to go... More

We took a chance coming here because we sometimes have to have a wheelchair friendly place to visit and we weren't sure it would be. . but this was just perfect. Access all round the park and grounds suited the chair and made for a great place to spend a couple of hours walking. The formal gardens are a real... More

Visited Alvaston Castle for the first time as an adult at the weekend, and loved it! There was plenty of parking, and prices weren't too bad either. We walked for hours, and the scenery was beautiful. I will be coming back in the future, as we didn't try the cafe. This place really does suit all!! Families, couples and friends.... More
