Great place for a day out

Have been going here since I was a little girl. Lovely walk, great in winter as well as in summer. Roll on the county show and the steam rally

There aren't exactly a lot of activities to do at Elvaston unless they have any activity days. on the day I went there was a rubber duck race in the stream which looked fun. The castle even though being restored and covered in scaffold is beautiful to look at and there is a lot of space for kids to ride... More

Luckily I picked a fine sunny day amidst a lot of rainy days in December 2015. Loads of family and couples there on same day enjoying the outdoors.

Elvaston Castle is an ideal place to visit for all ages. It has a children's playground and Lakeside walks. The Walled garden is also worth a visit in summer. The Harrington tea rooms, which is situated in the Castle is also ideal for a snack, meal or cup of tea with a scone or piece of home made cake.

Lovely place to chill and unwind both in summer and winter if you are brave enough. Kids love feeding the ducks and exploring the rocks. Shame the council cannot afford the upkeep as this place could be run so much better with a little money spent on it

a great place for a walk, climb and to see wildlife...though the birds were a little aggressive at times.

Our family love it here, it's a great walk, you can feed the ducks, eat in the castle cafe which sells delicious scones baked freshly on site. Lots for adults, children and dogs to have fun with, shame more isn't done with the castle to open it up more to the public.

Large grounds with paths beyond if you are looking for a really long walk. Nice lake with wildfowl, woods and mostly good paths. Small coffee shop with home made cakes and scones. Wood sculptures add interest.

Had a lovely evening walking around the grounds of Elvaston Castle, full of joggers, dog walkers and horse riders. My one tip would be that if you park on one of the estates, remeber where the entrance is because when it's gone dark it all look like a wall of tree's and we had dificult finding our way out!
