Great gardens

We visited the gardens for a walk and a picnic. Great place to relax and we had a lovely afternoon, it's right on my doorstep so we will definitely visit again.

There are lots of different things to see and do around the park, you have a grassy area for sports and picnics, a whole trail around the park to include nature areas and different flowers etc. There are big rock structures to climb on, sit on or just look at. A stream with an old water mill, castle, wood carvings.... More

The gardens at Elvaston Castle are truly magnificent with some memorable topiary, all of which are beautifully maintained. The same cannot be said of the castle which was encased in scaffolding when I visited, and presents a very sorry sight. Entry to the grounds is free and there are many walks within the park. A place to get a real... More

Excellent for the whole family, and it's free. Extensive grounds for the kids and dogs, nice and flat for disabled and elderly. A wonderful walled garden. we go here on a regular basis.

A lovely, quiet and peaceful place to go for a walk. Tucked away in the small village of Elvaston, not far from Borrowash it has ample parking and a variety of different walks and tracks you can take. Plenty of shade or sunshine - whatever you're looking for. Lots of different areas from well kept formal gardens to woodland walks.... More

Elvaston castle could be so much more than it has to offer. The building looks impressive if a little run down but with the right investment from the right group it could become a fabulous hotel and conference centre. But ignore that, the grounds are absolutely magnificent which offers manicured areas and more natural woodlands. These are beautiful all set... More

This is my local park / woodland. It's perfect for family outings, a jog or a bike ride. There is always something going on in the park (woodland festival etc) So much to do and explore. The small play area for children is good - could be bigger however it's usually quiet unless you go on a hot day in... More

Elvaston castle was my childhood playground and my visits bring back happy childhood memories. I often bring my dog for a lovely walk. The only problem I have is the parking which is too expensive. It took me over 30 mins to park last week as both card machines were broken and the cash machines do not take coppers, luckily... More

If you like a picturesque walk then you'll like it here, there are ducks to feed and a play area for the children. A courtyard cafe serves amazing cakes and refreshments. The main castle is undergoing some restoration work at the minute so there is scaffolding all over, but don't let that put you off
