I grew up in Derby and Elvaston Castle features in many of my childhood memories. Having returned after many years I was sorry to see that the building is run down - although it is having some work done, which is encouraging. It's a beautiful place and a favorite for kids and dogs alike. The tea room experience was ok... More

A lovely walk very flat and easily accessible for all. It has a nice fenced childrens play area which has recently been updated. Lots of wildlife to see often a family of herons to see, plenty of ducks to feed. There's an excellent cafe the scones are very nice and they serve homemade cakes too.

Lovely afternoon with a friend and our babies. Enjoyed a walk in this well kept woodland area leading on to castle grounds. The terrain was no problem with the buggies and the toilet/parking facilities were perfectly adequate. The small charge to lark was well worth it, we saw squirrels and plenty of different birds. The river /lake was beautiful with... More

For a couple of hours for a wander round the lake and a picnic by the castle there aren't many better places in Derby. Small charge to park but there's often events on like craft and food fairs.

A lovely place and always something to see. But the car park payment system angers me. Used to be a very helpful member of staff who the council got rid of in favour of machines that regularly get destroyed by vandals. For once I'm on the side of the vandals. The machines are awful, often out of order and on... More

Went here on a sunny day to have a nice walk around the castle. The gardens were very nice and there was a lot of open spaces. They had a tea room and ice cream van on aite making it easy to get a bite to eat, however there were a lot of dogs. The castle in itself was nice... More

We'll I'm about to upset the dog owning fraternity or some of them at least. We live near Glossop, my wife and I came over to mind our 20 month old grand daughter who lives in Borrowash and decided to take her to Elvaston castle and grounds as it is a nice sunny day. The grounds are beautiful and for... More
