This is my local park / woodland. It's perfect for family outings, a jog or a bike ride. There is always something going on in the park (woodland festival etc) So much to do and explore. The small play area for children is good - could be bigger however it's usually quiet unless you go on a hot day in... More

Elvaston castle was my childhood playground and my visits bring back happy childhood memories. I often bring my dog for a lovely walk. The only problem I have is the parking which is too expensive. It took me over 30 mins to park last week as both card machines were broken and the cash machines do not take coppers, luckily... More

If you like a picturesque walk then you'll like it here, there are ducks to feed and a play area for the children. A courtyard cafe serves amazing cakes and refreshments. The main castle is undergoing some restoration work at the minute so there is scaffolding all over, but don't let that put you off

Easily accessible grounds with lovely walks, lake, park and cafe serving the most amazing range of scones all cooked fresh and hot from the oven. We were a mixed ability group and all were able to enjoy the extensive grounds: if you want a peaceful walk, a dog walk, a place to play ball games a different place to go... More

We took a chance coming here because we sometimes have to have a wheelchair friendly place to visit and we weren't sure it would be. . but this was just perfect. Access all round the park and grounds suited the chair and made for a great place to spend a couple of hours walking. The formal gardens are a real... More

Visited Alvaston Castle for the first time as an adult at the weekend, and loved it! There was plenty of parking, and prices weren't too bad either. We walked for hours, and the scenery was beautiful. I will be coming back in the future, as we didn't try the cafe. This place really does suit all!! Families, couples and friends.... More

The grounds are beautiful, the cafe, where you could easily spend £30 on food does not take card payments! Cash only. How daft is that! Spoilt an otherwise lovely time 😞

My partner, myself and the beast (dog) have spent many a weekend walking around these grounds. We always manage to find a new spot, the place is full of surprises. Boots are recommeded as it can get muddy in parts, especially when fetching the beast out of one of the streams. And now the castle is having some money spent... More

I grew up in Derby and Elvaston Castle features in many of my childhood memories. Having returned after many years I was sorry to see that the building is run down - although it is having some work done, which is encouraging. It's a beautiful place and a favorite for kids and dogs alike. The tea room experience was ok... More

A lovely walk very flat and easily accessible for all. It has a nice fenced childrens play area which has recently been updated. Lots of wildlife to see often a family of herons to see, plenty of ducks to feed. There's an excellent cafe the scones are very nice and they serve homemade cakes too.
