A very nice place to take your dog for a walk. Lots of different walks to go on. Very interesting church yard. Signs of musket ball impacts on the church walls from a supposed sight of execution firing squad in the English Civil War. This place would be great for ghost hunters as it is haunted. No doubt about it.... More

Second attempt to find nature reserve and failed - did a very long walk, which we enjoyed but we need to improve our map reading. Saw heron, and so enjoyed fruit filled cream tea at Harringtons, Great place to visit with family.

Our family loves it here. Children can run freely and love exploring, climbing trees and rocks and watching the ducks. As well as the paths and nooks and crannies there are large expanses of cut grass which are great for games, picnics and letting off steam and there are formal gardens too. Walks, and visits, can be as long or... More

Always loved coming here for lazy afternoon walks and a bit of photography. It's pleasing to see there has been some investment in both the house and gardens over the last 12 months since my last visit. The hall is currently undergoing extensive exterior (and possibly interior) works which sadly obstruct any major views of the hall itself. The gardens... More

We held my wife's 40th birthday party here at the Gothic Hall. It is a fantastic place, we loved the fact we could provide our own catering and music and drinks without having to pay excess premiums like other places. The staff (particularly Katie) were very helpful. My wife, and all the guests were blown away by the setting and... More

This is a great place to visit and has 200 acres of grounds with well tended paths, gardens and wooded paths to walk round. Beautiful on a sunny day. The lake is pretty with a path all the way round it (make sure to bring duck bread if you are with little 'uns) and there are a number of follies... More

How can a place be so busy yet so peaceful at the same time. Elvaston castle draws you in and cocoons you. It opens its stage curtains for you to be drawn in to a magical place , I defy you not to be enthralled with it. From the varied rambles on offer encompassing some canny hideaways to an abundance... A good place to visit the only charge is car parking. A small playground by the car park for the younger children was very popular. The walk round the lake through the woods to the house takes about fifteen minutes but the grounds are quite extensive so you can go for a much longer walk. Suitable for walking the dog,... More

This is a lovely place for picnics and just for a chill out. The food in the cafe is nice and big portions!

Haven't been for a few years due to moving, but I really do like it a lot. Such a great place to walk around and explore or ride your bike round (though we always locked ours at the car park). Must go again during the summer holidays.
