We happened upon Maru animal park on our way to Phillip island. I'd heard a colleague talk about it so we stopped off for a visit. My partner wanted her photo with a Joey and we were pleasantly surprised that we were not charged a lot extra for this (as many other places in Australia do!). We also managed to... More

Hello Pieter The joey your partner cuddled was 'Williiam' and is one of the unique hands on experiences we offer with our animals. We may be a small family run park compared to some large state run zoos, but that doesn't stop us from being big on animal welfare, entertainment, value for money and big on customer service. We are... More

We had my daughters birthday party here and it was a great day. We had a private viewing and photo with the koala and the rest of the animals were friendly and good fun for kids to feed. The kids all had their own meals (which was very generous) and they catered for vegetarian kids well too! We finished off... More

Hello GMHart Nice to hear that your daughter had a great birthday party. There is a lot included in our childrens parties and now the indoor playroom is available to enjoy as well. Maybe we will see you back again during the school holidays. More

If you were not able to see Kangaroos, here is an opportunity. A small park with Kangaroos, Koala, Tasmanian Devil etc. Kangaroos are lazy and sleepy. You can have some photos taken for your memories; nothing much to boast about. If you are in the schedule itinerary than you don't have choice otherwise it is just to kill time.

Hello Bond 13007 We glad that you thought we put on a 'good show'. You must have visited a little while ago as we currently do not have Tasmanian Devils but hope to have them back on display again at Maru by the end of this year. Many people do visit us as part of a day tour to our... More

We were quite surprised by this place, we hadn't heard much about it but were killing time before the penguin parade (and ended up enjoying it way more!). We had such an amazing time at this place, it was fantastic. We really enjoyed the talk, loved seeing some animals up close. The keepers were friendly and informative. Best native animals... More

A small wildlife park which was probably not worth it if you have been to a lot of them like we have but definitely worth popping into for a wander around and to feed the animals. The mini-golf was great one of the best we have been to, and the cafe meals were good quality and value, staff friendly. Well... More

If you want to see Kangaroos and hand feed them, this is the best place to go. You will see a free range of Kangaroos roaming around you . You can get a close look of Koalas also. There are others like Emus, sheeps/ sheep sheering....but I was particularly interested in Kangaroos and Koalas for my kid. Its 2$ for... More

Hello Balaji It is a special experience to get so close to, pat and hand feed the kangaroos and wallabies, including our albino ones. The money we raise from the sale of our kangaroo food all goes towards helping to cover the costs of running a Wildlife Shelter for injured and orphaned animals in the wild, so thank-you for your... Enjoyed a 45 min visit here, saw the sheep shearing demonstration. And the albino kangaroos. There is also a crazy golf course, if you aren't keen on the animals.

Hi Rob Glad you enjoyed the sheep shearing and our albino kangaroos. Pirate Pete's Mini-golf certainly is unique with several 'special' holes, the most popular with the kids being the 'outback dunny' where the man yells at the kids to leave him alone! We look forward to hopefully seeing you back again to enjoy maybe the Wildlife Show and other... More

It is a state law Victoria wide that we do not let visitors pick up and hold the koala, but by being able to see and pat the koala in its branch, it remains at rest and is less disturbed. Koalas in the south of Australia are also much larger than in Queensland. Our males can reach up to 12-14kg... More

This is a fantastic concept especially people with children as you can hand feed and pat many animals. Staff are friendly and courteous. But overall the exhibits need an overhaul and rethink of the lay out as it's a little bit everywhere.

Hi John It's great feedback to receive about the staff and we will let them know that their friendly and courteous manner has been recognized. We are continually improving our park and displays and will take on board what you have suggested about the layout. More

For some reason, we expected that the animals would be in a natural environment. (We normally don't visit zoos as we don't enjoy seeing animals in cages.) But the animals are caged here. The kangaroos and wallabies have a larger enclosure, but people are allowed in. The wombat and kookaburras are in very small cages. The dingos were the saddest... More

If don't enjoy seeing captive animals then you are probably not going to enjoy any animal park or zoo. Our animals are fenced in as they need to be contained but I would not call them 'cages'. The dingoes are behind cyclone fence with a roll over top to prevent escape and by law it must not allow for visitors... More
