It is a little walk across the fields so wear appropriate footwear but this is one of the nicest monastic sights I've visited. It is a ruin so don't expect to see stained glass windows! But the surroundings are well maintained and there is a helpful information point at the site. Really a must-see

my family is from this part of the country and as a little girl we use to walk to the abbey. Back then, about 20 years ago you were able to climb the tower. I believe that the tower is closed now. But we would go there several times cause there was a tail that when you climb up the...

Moyne Abbey is an old monestary tucked away in Killalla, county Mayo. It has situated in the middle of a field which is a bit of a treck to get through. However, the treck is well worth it. It has many little passgeways and hidden areas that are fun and interesting to explore.
