A great experience for the family or visitors. A good hour spent on Lough Derg with an entertaining commentary and even better bar! Wrap up well if on the upper exposed deck but is a great vantage point to view the brilliant scenery. Well worth it.

Brilliant 1 hour journey along the river Tipperary. We were on the smaller boat but I was glad as it allowed us much more time with the boats captain who was a lovely friendly man. He even allowed us to drive the boat which my 4 year old sun hasn't stopped talking about. Great cruise, stunning views and value for... More

Mam, Dad and each one of our children right through from 4 to 14 thoroughly enjoyed our tour on Lough Derg. James, the skipper, was a brilliant host to us, offering blankets for all to fend off the cold, extremely knowledgeable in local history and very patient and friendly with our small children. Had a fantastic time and would highly... More

This was our group's second trip with Killaloe Cruises. We had a group of 60 people with intellectual disability and helpers. We would never have considered this type of activity before talking to Jim at Killaloe Cruises last year. We returned at the insistence of our members who loved it both times! Thanks so much Jim

We took this one hour Shannon cruise as a lunchtime break to a day's driving and what a treat it turned out to be. After a low key, no fuss booking and boarding, we set of on the Spirit of Killaloe for a gentle meander along the Shannon up to Lough Derg, enhanced by an informative commentary and gentle Irish... Our host James is a man who knows about the past and the present Shannon River. James described to us the many historical features in and around the river. We also learned about the wildlife of the river and about water conservation moves by local government and residents to improve and protect the river system.

Thank you for your review. I am very fortunate to have lived in Killaloe all of my life, we have a very rich history in our town and I love to pass on this information to interested visitors. I always try to mix history with a small amount of local folklore. I hope you found your ancestors home whilst in... More

We pre-booked by phoning and it was quite busy. You probably don't see anything more than you see from the road. It's just an up and down journey really but we did enjoy. I wouldn't really say it was worth the money compared to a cruise on the Thames in England.

I am pleased you did enjoy your cruise with us on the River Shannon and Lough Derg. I would have to disagree with you and say that the view from our boat is far better than what you would see driving the Lough Derg Drive. We provide a commentary on the interesting historical sites and on the river's history and... More

Lunch at the adjacent pub let us enjoy the view of the river and our grandsons playing on the wide grassy river bank. Then we boarded a very well-designed and maintained cruise vessel for the one hour excursion into Lough Derg. The beautiful Irish music selected as background for the informative narration was spot on. The kids safely moved about... More

The trip lasted an hour or so and traveled up the Shannon River. We had a cloudy day but could still see the very green hills all along the river. The boat had an upper and main deck, where you could sit or stand (if need be). Worth a try just to get the perspective from the water.

I'm sincerely sorry for the error that was made by us with your booking. I did take your booking by telephone, however before I got to put this in our bookings list, it was brought to my attention that an elderly gentleman had fallen whilst sitting on a wall by the quayside. My attention was diverted to assisting with this... More
