We were lucky enough to visit during relatively settled weather and get to explore the beautiful gardens of the Castle. Afterwards my husband and son took the guided tour of the castle and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a lovely tearooms area in the castle gardens. A great way to spend a few hours.

Explored this place after climbing mount errigal. Hauntingly beautiful, the castle gardens are out of this world, beautiful carved statues. We visited late afternoon & we virtually had the place to ourselves, so tranquil & refreshing for the soul. Would be great for kids as the castle & gardens are fairytale-like.

Staff are fantastic in the castle, friendly &welcoming! Fantastic location, bring midget spray on a warm day though! History of the. Derryveagh evictions should be focused on more as this is without doubt the pivitol part of the history of the castle! Regardless you can transport yourself back in time, once in this stunning location,to a time of opulence yet cruelty!

took the bus over to the castle which was a couple of euro each. The castle tour was 5euro each and was good but not excellent, a little rushed and the guide spoke very fast and did not offer up any chance for questions. The stunning scenery more thank makes up for this, absolutely stunning and the gardens are just... More

Took the option to walk to the castle rather than get the shuttle bus, my mother took the bus which was a good idea seeing as it is a 4k walk. The views on this walk will lift your spirit. Got to the castle and had a walk around the grounds which are lovely. Then went to get some food... More

The staff stayed on late to guide the visitors from all parts of Europe on a tour of the castle, provided tea & cakes in the tearoom and made them feel welcome. Therese & Mary were wonderful and interested in the visitors. Úna, one of the gardeners, was welcoming & answered all queries about vegetation, exotic & native flora etc.... More

Would recommend the castle and gardens. Staff really friendly snd helpful throughout. Castle and gardens beatiful. only downside was the service in 'retaurant' in visitors centre. It was open but the staff were too busy clearing up to serve customers. A queue quickly formed with only one poor girl trying to serve customers, man the till and make tea and... More

This is a fantastic visual experience, great grounds a lovely walk recommend taking bus back). The downside is the midges - Oh my goodness - I have never been bitten so many times - BRING DEET! The tea house at the castle is great too (avoid one at bottom). Only recommend bus back due to midges - if you have... More
