We hired Viking Mikes boat for the day after our wedding recently. It was a great experience for everyone as many of our guests who although local had never been on the lake before. As we had so many passengers Mike organised two trips on the boat (c1-2hrs) and also organised a bus trip back to the wedding venue. They... More

What a fantastic activity for adults and children right in the heart of Athlone! We had a fantastic afternoon aboard the beautifully painted viking boat! The whole experience far exceeded my expectations, with a very reasonable charge of €10 which included our 75minute sailing up the beautiful River Shannon to Lough Ree and return, complimentary tea & coffee and a... A large group of us rented the boat for two trips of the Shannon and we didn't want to get off. Really friendly and informative with a mixture of old stories and new interesting facts. Don't leave athlone without doing this.

Mike collected my group (of fun loving golfing ladies) from the Hodson Bay Hotel and sailed into Athlone on a beautiful evening recently. He also arranged for a bus back and recommended a local restaurant. We had a BRILLIANT evening and was a real highlight of our weekend. It was particularly great because I had booked everything for the following... More

I'm sure this would be a really memorable trip if the sun had been shining but unfortunately the rain was torrential and we were soaked before we ever got on the boat as were the rest of the passengers but everyone was still in good spirits and the commentary was very informative. Would recommend it but pick a good day.

It was very well organised, comfortable, friendly and efficient. Staff were very accomodating and the info given was suitable to all interests. The souvenir helmet, sword and shield are great value for the kids. Would definitely go again.

This was one of the highlights of our short break away in the midlands. We took a Shannon Viking Tour from Athlone on a lovely sunny Saturday morning. There are two round-trip tours available – one takes 75 minutes and is up into Lough Ree. The other is 3 hours to the monastic site at Clonmacnoise. We took the shorter... More
