I'm sure this would be a really memorable trip if the sun had been shining but unfortunately the rain was torrential and we were soaked before we ever got on the boat as were the rest of the passengers but everyone was still in good spirits and the commentary was very informative. Would recommend it but pick a good day.

It was very well organised, comfortable, friendly and efficient. Staff were very accomodating and the info given was suitable to all interests. The souvenir helmet, sword and shield are great value for the kids. Would definitely go again.

This was one of the highlights of our short break away in the midlands. We took a Shannon Viking Tour from Athlone on a lovely sunny Saturday morning. There are two round-trip tours available – one takes 75 minutes and is up into Lough Ree. The other is 3 hours to the monastic site at Clonmacnoise. We took the shorter... More

On a recent trip with the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland we set sail with Viking Ship Cruises for a cruise on Lough Ree and a trip to Athlone & back. Departing from the quay at the Hodson Bay Hotel. Well, little did we know just how much we would learn from the trip. Viking Mike was quite simply a... More

Great way to see Athlone and experience the Shannon. The kids loved it and so did we. The commentator was very engaging and also let the kids have a go at steering the boat. Would highly recommend.

Stayed in the Hodson Bay Hotel in July 2014. As part of the hotel package was included a Viking Boat ride form the Hotel to Athlone town (and back!!!) The boat leaves the hotel at regular intervals during the day and returns. However, one can get off in Athlone (right outside the Athlone Castle!!!!) and get the next boat back... More

We were staying at the hodson bay hotel and took the trip into town and back €25 for 2 adults and teenager and it was a beautiful trip on what had to be one of the hottest days we had this year. There is a small snack shop on board and complimentary tea/ coffee available. The skipper Mike gives an... More
