Really enjoyed this trip. Captain Mike was very interesting and informative. It's a lovely way to travel. The boat itself has an interesting background. Mike knows all the local flora and fauna, as well as all the historical elements around the lake. For ten euro each it was well worth the money!

We took this trip recently with the family - 2 pre teen boys - and must say it was wonderful. The boat was large and comfortable and plenty of seating both on deck and in the covered area. Our guide was knowledgable and funny and a mine of information on the history, geography, culture, flora and fauna of this wonderful... More

Trip lasts for aout 75-90 minutes. Boat takes you up to the Lough Ree lake up to the Harbour Bay. There is an option that you can disembark and go back with some of the next tours (at no additional cost). Tour guide/ driver was very informative about the history and sights we were passing by. Also there is complimentary... More

Travel from Hodson Bay Hotel, the parking is easier and they do a good cup of tea! 2 Grandsons loved it, up in the prow of the boat (I think that is what you call the sharp end), pretending to be marauding Vikings hell bent on plunder and pillage! Not sure about the Viking helmets though. Good value for money... More

Wonderful trip on Loch Ree despite the rainy weather. Very good commentary from the Skipper too as we headed out from Athlone . Very informative , entertaining and educational. The craft was well kitted out too with see through blinds which were lowered to keep out the draughts and the rain. A most enjoyable 1.1/2 hour journey

We took a 4pm boat ride with Viking Tours up the Shannon and had a lovely time. Free tea and coffee available and pay for snacks on your trip. Commentary of the history of the area and lovely scenery - nice to chill out and kick back. Covered section when it rained and blankets to keep warm available.

We (2 adults, 3 teens and 1 pre-teen) spent a couple of days in Athlone and Roscommon around mid August and were looking for something to do on Monday morning before driving back to West Cork. Being myself of viking origin, I thought the cruise to Clonmacnois with Viking Tours would be fun. And we were not disappointed!! It could... More

A group of us travelled on the Viking Boat last Saturday evening. The overall experience was just fantastic, Michael is really knowledgeable and gives a good tour up the river. This is a really worth while experience for groups, families or couples. We had a lovely sunny evening but even with rain it doesn't matter as the boat is covered... More
