Took the tour from the Hodson into Athlone. For €5 one way it was much better then any taxi. Two very pleasant gentlemen conducted the tour with great joviality and a very informative commentary. Tea coffee & beer available on board and I was very impressed to see it was wheelchair friendly. 10/10 to all. Looking forward to sailing on... More

Travel from Athlone to Hodson bay hotel by water, it's a wonderful trip filled with folklore of times gone and facts of times present as you depart Athlone town and make passage for the stunning Lough Ree . You will travel along the navigation and take in views of cruisers coming & going but don't forget to wave (we are... More

This boat ride was a lot of fun and a great way to spend 2 hrs in Athlone. We took the 10am tour from Athlone to Hodson Bay and back. In Hodson Bay we picked up a crowd that were celebrating a birthday so on the way back to Athlone we all sang songs celebrating. Great fun. The boat tour... More

This is a 90 minuit trip.....and takes one up into Lough Ree on one side and down again. On the way, Mick the boat owner...gives one all the information on the history of the lake, monastic settlements, and the eco and wildlife. Very informative. A drink is served on board.

We hired Viking Mikes boat for the day after our wedding recently. It was a great experience for everyone as many of our guests who although local had never been on the lake before. As we had so many passengers Mike organised two trips on the boat (c1-2hrs) and also organised a bus trip back to the wedding venue. They... More

What a fantastic activity for adults and children right in the heart of Athlone! We had a fantastic afternoon aboard the beautifully painted viking boat! The whole experience far exceeded my expectations, with a very reasonable charge of €10 which included our 75minute sailing up the beautiful River Shannon to Lough Ree and return, complimentary tea & coffee and a...
