Creevelea Friary is full of great history and charm. Make sure to check out the headstone where many miracles took place. You can't miss it with the number of rosary beards that adorn the headstone. Worth a visit!!

The Creevelea Friary was an excellent example of a relatively well-preserved friary of the era. The complex is actually deceptively small from the outside; it goes on forever once inside and must've had 40-50 rooms of various types when active. We learned from our tour guide of Wild West Irish Tours that Cromwell himself had sacked and burned the Friary... More

This place is worth a visit if ever in the area. It is a nice drive from town and a good stopping point if driving around Lough Gill. Give yourself 30 minutes to take what it's remaining walls have to offer. There is ample parking and no charge to visit. In fact you are likely to find the place all... More

We decided to take the drive from Sligo around Lough Gill and glimpsed the friary across the river. We initially parked near the Public Works and a gracious man, clearly familiar with our mistake, redirected us to the now closed hotel parking lot. You can drive directly to the site but parking at the hotel and taking the path through... More

On the Lough Gill drive you will pass through the village of Dromahair. Park in the Abbey Manor Hotel carpark. Just behind the hotel, a foot bridge crosses the little river Bonet. A paved footpath winds along the riverbank for about a mile, a very easy, peaceful scenic walk. This leads to a small cottage with picturesque Crevala Friary beyond.... More

What a simple Friary and cemetary just sitting in the open to be viewed by anyone. Free to enter and mainly a ruin. Crevela Friory is lovely! Leave a half hour to enjoy or take a full hour and take a walk by the pasture, down a path and follow the brook, so peaceful and great for photographers. Visitthe little... More

We happened upon the Crevela Friary ruins as we were traveling between Enniskillen and Boyle completely by chance. We saw the sign on the main road and took the winding one lane path in an adventurous moment as the sun was setting on a cold December evening. We were not disappointed when we arrived a few minutes later. The ruins... More
