We decided to take the drive from Sligo around Lough Gill and glimpsed the friary across the river. We initially parked near the Public Works and a gracious man, clearly familiar with our mistake, redirected us to the now closed hotel parking lot. On the Lough Gill drive you will pass through the village of Dromahair. Park in the Abbey Manor Hotel carpark. Just behind the hotel, a foot bridge crosses the little river Bonet. A paved footpath winds along the riverbank for about a mile, a very easy, peaceful scenic walk. This leads to a small cottage with picturesque Crevala Friary beyond.... More

What a simple Friary and cemetary just sitting in the open to be viewed by anyone. Free to enter and mainly a ruin. Crevela Friory is lovely! Leave a half hour to enjoy or take a full hour and take a walk by the pasture, down a path and follow the brook, so peaceful and great for photographers. Visitthe little... More

We happened upon the Crevela Friary ruins as we were traveling between Enniskillen and Boyle completely by chance. We saw the sign on the main road and took the winding one lane path in an adventurous moment as the sun was setting on a cold December evening.
