A fantastic collection of stain glass windows in this cathedral. Lovely cathedral in general. The colors in the glass just jumped out at me.

Quite surpisingly good, and a lovely location by the lake. My advice, take in the museum, walk the lake, let kids play in the excellent playground, then stop off for a bite to eat in Loughrea town.

The most beautiful church we stopped at!!! Rhona, the woman who cares for the sacristy, gave us the grand tour and even played the massive organ for my husband and me! Would go back in a heartbeat!!! The grounds were as beautiful as the cathedral! A must see!

The stained glass windows in this Cathedral are of interest. All are by Irish aritsts and each window has a name plate of the artist. The Cathedral was built in the Celtic Revival period and the Bishop at the time wanted to use Irish artists and stone masons.

We went to St. Brendan's for a midday mass on Sunday. The Cathedral was pretty full. It was not long after Christmas and the manger scene was still up. The children enjoyed seeing it. The message was lovely. There was a pipe organ, and lovely singing through the service. The Cathedral is large, and worth looking around.

Well worth a visit. Over 100 years old, it houses some amazing examples of Irish craft and stone masonry. It is built on the shore of the beautiful Loughrea lake. One of the only working moats in Ireland creates one of the Boundaries of the Cathedral. The Cathedral houses a museum and the audio tour enhances the whole experience. The... More
