During the famine in irl ,poor people who couldnt pay there house or land rent ,Evictions were very common .People ended up in the what was called Work Houses .Conditions were aful.A lot of people died ,out the road in callan a few miles away .is the famine graveyard.Ask any one from callan they will tell you were it is.

I visited The Workhouse after a search at Rothe House in Callan, I found that my mother was born in there in 1902,and sent out on the street with my Grandmother as she didn,t have any money.
