Welcome to Jerpoint Park, where we strive to immerse you in a unique experience of heritage and culture in a very special destination Thomastown in Kilkenny , south east of Ireland. Unearth the history of Jerpoint Park with a guided tour of the footprints of a deserted 12th century medieval town. When it was founded near a crossing point on the River Nore near the Cistercian Jerpoint Abbey. The site also contains the Tomb Effigy of St. Nicholas (Bishop of Myra) plus the Church of St. Nicholas. "One of Irelands's best examples of a deserted 12th century medieval town" a quote from The Heritage Council of Ireland.Savour the delicious homemade scones baked daily during the summer months in our Tea Rooms. Angling on the River Nore for wild salmon & wild brown trout from March - September (ghillie, rods & bait available for hire). Sheep dog demonstrations with geese or sheep is a wonderful event to see.Check website for details of opening hours and guided heritage tour times.Looking forward to welcoming you to Jerpoint.Joe & Maeve

This place is an absolute jewel and total surprise. We enjoyed a lovely tea for lunch, and then a guided tour of the ruins of the medieval town. Then the owner and his adorable son gave us a demonstration of their dog's sheepherding skills. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

We discovered a gem outside of Dublin in Jerpoint Park. Ruins of a medieval village on a privately-owned farm...and the ruins of the church contain the cemetery of St. Nicholas...yes, Santa! We were invited in by the owners wife to enjoy tea and scones, followed by a tour of the ancient village and finally, the owner gave his beautiful pup... More

the lovely young guide made our trip here! This bright young lady imparted her knowledge to us in a lovely bright and interesting way. It was a damp morning but she brightened our day. The OPW have lovely staff and we had a private guide today, no extra charge , just the entrance fee.

Lovely place to visit, with very interesting history, in a beautiful location. And very friendly guides/owners. However skip the soup and sandwiches for lunch - not worth the extra €10. Maybe scones and tea would be better.

We had a lovely tea and scone afternoon tea. It was like stepping into someone's home. The whole family was involved -- kids, Mom, and grandfather. There was a tour of the farm; the cemetery where St. Nicholas is buried; and a sheepdog demonstration. There was a mule which was a great photo opportunity.

Take the guided tour to get the most out of your visit! The Abbey will give you a real sense of history and complex architecture over the centuries.

This beautifully restored home and the Newtown Jerpoint ruins were the surprise attraction of our trip to Ireland. As much as we enjoyed the sheepdog exhibition, the walk through the Newtown ruins was a fantastic trip back in time narrated by Joe. We could have stayed all day listening to Maeve and Joe talk about the history of their lovely... More

I had read about Jerpoint on various sites and thought it would be worth the trip. I emailed Maeve several times to arrange a time - but the last one didn't get there before we did. However, they could not have been more accomodating. We were a party of 4 and we had our own private tour by Joe, including... More

You are greeted at Jerpoint by a family member like you are a family friend. Our visit started with tea, coffee, scones, and a chat about the estate. The coffee was perfect. The scones and jams were fresh, homemade, and delicious. The chat was about the farm and the historic discoveries on the estate. Our group asked a range of... More
