Visit Silver Strand and Cow Beach. Island Prices for drinks in the bar are a bit stiff but you cannot beat the location.

Have been going back to Sherkin for more years than I care to remember. Magic from the moment you step on to the ferry (10 minutes to the island). Landing on Sherkin you have just stepped into another world. Just pretend not to see the cars parked on the pier. A beautiful walk, passing the Community centre, the National school... More

Took the ferry to Sherkin Island Tuesday 20th April. On the ferry there were students (mature) heading to do presentations for the finals of their Art Course that is run inconjunction with DIT college. Some were nervous all were very excited. On the island I came across some of their work. The island walk is fantastic. The morning started off... More

It is a good activity to pursue out of Baltimore. Not a very long ferry ride but enjoyable rewarding hike on a peaceful island. The ferries take off from the marina in Baltimore.

The ferry takes 10mins to Sherkin Island from Baltimore. A return ticket costs ten euro. Get to the harbour early though as the boat is small and can fill up fast. It takes about 4 hours to walk the entire island. You will catch magnificent views of cliffs and ocean and everyone you meet will greet you with a friendly... More

The island was quiet and didn't have a lot of people on it, but it made for a great day-trip of hiking and playing around on the beach. The local pub-owner we visited was very helpful and friendly as well.

its a short boat trip from Baltimore over to Shekin Island. Its a great spot for strolling around for the day. Its the remote, romantic Ireland at its best.

We went to Sherkin Island and we were really lucky with the weather. Walking around the island and looking at the cliffs, the beautiful coast line and the sandy beaches was very nice and all the people we met were really friendly. We ended out trip with a visit to the only pub on the island called "Jolly Rogers", where... More
