Small is beautiful

On a sunny Sunday in July there was peace and quiet, glorious views, a lovely pub with good food and friendly artists and their studios. I'd love to go again.

Silver strand is amazing and the Islanders Rest is the perfect place to enjoy a pint and food after your trek around the island

We got the ferry across, and walked around the island. The pure tranquility has to be experienced. We only came across a few People and that added to the pleasure.

Nice to walk around this beautiful island with few cars to spoil the view. Some gorgeous quiet beaches and some an art exhibition to view at the local library. Take the inexpensive ferry, bring a picnic and spend the day,.

We didn't have a set plan of where we wanted to visit, more of an idea of things we’d like to do on our budget friendly break in Cork a few weeks ago. My husband Colin knew that you can get a boat out to some of the islands from Baltimore harbour so we hopped in the car & headed... More

I took the ferry out to Sherkin Island while staying in Baltimore and can only say what a beautiful island it is. With an old friary, the remains of a castle, and great scenery to see it's definitely worth the 10 euro ferry fare to visit.

The island is a lovely place for families to visit. We came across two small beautiful beaches Cow Strand and Silver Strand. I have never seen the water look so blue, it felt like being on an island off the Indian Ocean. Be prepared for a lot of walking though and bring a packed lunch. Will definitely pay a return... We went to Baltimore with a plan to get the ferry to Oileáin Cléire but we missed it so took the ferry to Sherkin Island instead. We weren't sorry as we spent a lovely relaxing sunny day on the island. The ferry trip is only €10 return and takes around fifteen minutes, whereas the same day the trip to Oiléain... More
