Responsible tourism award winner - Whale Watch West Cork runs responsible whale and dolphin watching tours led by zoologist and conservationist Dr Nic Slocum. All tours depart from Baltimore, Harbour, West Cork on board Voyager- daily between April and November (sea conditions permitting). Each tour takes you around the beautiful islands and headlands of West Cork, stopping at Cape Clear Island affording visitors an insight into the unique lifestyle of the islanders of Roaring Water Bay. Our overseas arm, Whales Worldwide, runs exclusive wildlife holidays to unique destinations including Baja, Maui, Patagonia and Sri Lanka to watch whales responsibly in their natural habitats. Each tour is personally guided by Nic Slocum with a maximum of ten like-minded guests per holiday. We are dedicated to providing each of our customers with a safe, comfortable and educational whale and dolphin watching experience. We seek to impart accurate knowledge on the marine mammals and other wildlife we encounter and on the wider issues of marine conservation through informed commentary with special emphasis on the current threats facing these unique animals and their fragile environment. We directly support conservation measures through education and research.

So much more than whales, but they were the stars. Many many sightings and so close, no need for binoculars!! With the expertise of Nic and the knowledge of the local boatmen and guides there was so much information available. The added bonus was all the other wildlife to see, dolphins, rays, sea lions and many interesting birds. Put all... More

We wanted to see whales - we researched on the Internet and found Whales Worldwide and homed in on the two packages in Baja California. Unable to decide between the Loreto based one and the San Ignacio Lagoon one we did the only sensible thing and combined the two. It was the best holiday we have ever had. Nic answered... More

Hi Grannyweatherwax Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your experience with Whales Worldwide in Baja. I can't tell you what a pleasure it was to have you both on board Baja 2015 and show you the delights of that part of Mexico; not only the amazing whale activity but the fabulous scenery and... My husband and I spent a wonderful morning on board the yoyager with Nic on Easter Sunday. What an amazing experience we spent time watching a pod of between 40 and 50 dolphins as they played in the wash from the boat and as if that wasn't enough excitement we then sighted a minkey whale... I have to say that... More

On all the trips out we didn't see any large whales or dolphins although we see some seals and fleeting views of some porpoises. Generally there really didn't seem to be a lot about. Having said that the coastline was spectacular and there were some amazing photographic opportunities. If you are in to geology then you get some very interesting... More

Hi Marc A. Thank you so much for taking the time to review your week spent in West Cork whale watching with us. The weather was very disappointing that week and it did not improve much between the middle of October and the end of the season early December. Although we were able to get out during the week the... More

We have just returned from a weeks Whale watching with Nic Slocum, Nic arranged everything for our stay, from the hotel (see separate review) to our trips out and about. Nic took us to the local islands and walks along the peninsulas explaining the local history any wildlife. The weather on the boat was against us for the first part... More

We booked the trip with Nic Slocum in advance through the internet. Nic informed us that the morning and afternoon trip would be combined so we started at 12:15 with fine weather and a slight breeze, although the sea-swell would be considerable according to Nic. We didn't see any whales but a lot of dolphins and had a wonderful trip.... More

Didn't see any whales but we were briefed beforehand that there was no guarantee, but it was a very worthwhile wildlife trip. Nick Slocum was a charming and informative host who is clearly committed and passionate about marine conservation. We had a delightful encounter with a pod of dolphins.

The wind was in the wrong direction so no whale watching but we enjoyed a nature trip with lots of information from Nic. We called into Cape Clear Island for a drink and even saw Fastnet in the distance. A good trip.

We did this tour aware that whales are wild animals and that there were the chance not to see them...and unfortunately it happened. The only thing we regret is that on a 4 hours tour we spent 50 minutes for a "cup of tea" on Capeclear Island, even if we haven't seen any whale/dolphin/etc yet.

OK, the first thing I'd like to say is that our first trip out with Nic was fruitless when it came to spotting whales and dolphins but I went in with the attitude that I wasn't going to see anything so I won't be disappointed. This is nature and Nic explained before we set off that there had been no... More
