Description: Responsible tourism award winner - Whale Watch West Cork runs responsible...
Responsible tourism award winner - Whale Watch West Cork runs responsible whale and dolphin watching tours led by zoologist and conservationist Dr Nic Slocum. All tours depart from Baltimore, Harbour, West Cork on board Voyager- daily between April and November (sea conditions permitting). Each tour takes you around the beautiful islands and headlands of West Cork, stopping at Cape Clear Island affording visitors an insight into the unique lifestyle of the islanders of Roaring Water Bay. Our overseas arm, Whales Worldwide, runs exclusive wildlife holidays to unique destinations including Baja, Maui, Patagonia and Sri Lanka to watch whales responsibly in their natural habitats. Each tour is personally guided by Nic Slocum with a maximum of ten like-minded guests per holiday. We are dedicated to providing each of our customers with a safe, comfortable and educational whale and dolphin watching experience. We seek to impart accurate knowledge on the marine mammals and other wildlife we encounter and on the wider issues of marine conservation through informed commentary with special emphasis on the current threats facing these unique animals and their fragile environment. We directly support conservation measures through education and research.

Sometimes it is easy to get carried away in the afterglow of an experience, but I have to write that an afternoon with Nic on board Voyager around Baltimore and Cape Clear Island observing some of the most extraordinary wildlife is an experience that must be shared. Nic is a warm and convivial host his genuine enthusiasm and excitement is... More

The sea was a bit choppy on our trip which made spotting wildlife a little more challenging but our group had some early success with a few sightings of the shy harbour porpoise. We weren't fortunate enough to see any Minke, the conditions made this unlikely, but we had a spectacular encounter with a pod of common dolphins who delighted... More

We had a fantastic trip with Nic on the only warm sunny day so far this July. To our delight we had lots of sightings of not only the many Dolphins that swam along with the boat but 3 Minkey whales as well. This was a trip we will never forget the 4 hours went by in a flash. Thank... More

Nic is lovely to go out whale watching with! We've gone out with him 3 times and love the way he will do his best to find whales! If they are not around he'll try and find dolphins or porpoises. His knowledge and the way he loves to share it is inspiring. You never tire of his stories! He's a... More

Went out with Nic on the 1st July 15 for a mornings whale watching. Had a great time, not many sightings, but that's the way it goes. Nic is very informative and has a great friendly approach. Stopped off on Cape Clear for a short time then back to the boat for the return. Will definitely be back for a... More

Okay so we didn't see a lot of whales..one minke to be exact but we had such a wonderful day out it didn't matter too much. The one whale we saw appeared out of nowhere and for a while afterwards we watched for her to reappear. We heard her and smelt her before we saw her again a couple more... More

Nic was a terrific host and informative & knowledgable guide on our whale watch excursion. We did see several porpoises and seals on our trip and a brief sighting of a minke whale! Having no guarantees of viewing anything, we considered ourselves quite fortunate. The visit to Cape Clear Island was also a highlight of the day and is where... More

Unfortunately we didn't see any whales but Nic's enthusiasm to find something was great. We enjoyed seeing the birds diving and as we went so far out into the Atlantic in search of the sealife, Nic decided to take us to the Fastnet Lighthouse. There we did see some seals and it was great to get so near to this... More

We saw Minke whales! Nic Slocum is informative and animated, his passion for the animals is infectious. Nic initially gave us a boat safety talk and then informed us that sightings are not guaranteed, large feeding area, small number of animals. We saw about 25 whales at various distances, we were all 'spotting' and as soon as one was seen... More
