I'v visited Bantry Bay House a few time's.The ground's are excellent & the view over & across the Sea is Awesome..They have a little Coffee shop joined onto the house,at the back of the building with seating inside & outside..I think this is a must visit place,as the House is very old & the family still live there..

This is simply a lovely location! The house was very interesting but for me the gardens were the star here. And the views from the house are also great in all directions. Make sure you make a stop at the tea shop if it's lunchtime--we enjoyed some great homemade soup and more there.

Thank you for your kind review. I am so glad you enjoyed your time at the house and esp in the garden. I will let our gardeners know your appreciation as they both work very hard. My mother oversees the garden work and with Lorna and John and our interns over the summer they do a fantastic job. Best wishes,... More

My wife and I stayed two nights at Bantry House and it was the highlight of our two week trip to Southern Ireland. The historic house and gardens are stunning and a national treasure. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely view. The full Irish breakfast was the best on our trip. The staff were welcoming and couldn't have... More

The gardens are lovely and well kept, but still a lot of work to do on them. The tour inside was taken with the owner and very good. We saw quite a lot apart from the area they lived in. They do take paying guests and we had a couple of ladies on our tour who were staying. The views... More

We visited on a rainy day and sat in the beautiful, tasty tea rooms, not realising we could self guide ourselves around the house. What a great shame i didn't spend ALL our time allotted in the house!!such an interesting house with those furnishing and tapestries. Really worth your support as so worth saving! Everone trying so hard. Gardens lovely... More

Unfortunately, the house was closed for a photo shoot the day of my visit, but the beautiful gardens were well worth the visit. The magnificent steps leading up from the garden have a fabulous view of the house and the bay. Don't miss the wonderful cafe!

Bantry House & Gardens are in such a beautiful position overlooking peaceful Bantry Bay, Whiddy island, & Kerry mountains & Hungry Hill in the distance. I walked the avenue leading to the imposing gates of the house and felt I was travelling back in time. The house was built in 1700 and contains many important works of art, the furniture and... More

This was a nice stop on our way from Killarney to Mizen head. Walking to grounds you could feel what it was like back in all its glory. Again the views are awesome. Worth the stop if your just passing through.

Have waited years to get here and it didn't disappoint. From the friendly staff to the uncommercialised visit to ten rooms in the house this counts as my favourite visit of the holiday. You are lent a folder with useful information about the objects in the rooms and trusted to get on with it at your own pace. My only... More

We loved visiting a home that is still in the hands of family, living, and working there. It was very interesting to look at real family photos, in a setting that did not feel contrived and over done. The grounds and views alone were worth the visit. The property was absolutely stunning, and we enjoyed the coffee and scones in... More

Thank you so much for reviewing your visit with us. I am glad that you enjoyed a look into a real living big house. As you said we, the family, still work and live in the house which adds a special feeling to it (I hope) as you walk around. Best wishes, Sophie Shelswell-White More
