We have a large selection of horses and ponies to suit all ages and abilities. Beginners are especially welcome and our carefully selected Irish Cobs are sure to give you a safe pleasant introduction to riding and the Irish countryside.Groups are kept small and are fully escorted and supervised at all times. The private trails are around the farm and up to the summit of Mullaghmesha, where, 580m above sea level, the views are breathtaking and cover a vast area of the West Cork coastline, (on a clear day, and barely your mounts ears in a good Celtic mist).Rides commence with an assessment form, then fitting with helmets, body protectors and riding boots, provided by us, before you meet your horse and head for the hills! - well maybe not quite so fast!

My family and friends stay in cottages for weekend. Fantastic experience. Loved. No tv, Internet - only family time. House super clean, owner friendly and helpful. You fell so good in there as you back in time. Just you and nature. Just one think is was cold in cottages, you need 2eur for electricity and to heat house you need... More

...her parents were pretty impressed, too ! This wonderful little gem, is somewhat difficult to find, but well worth it ! Deliciously ramshackle, but what it lacked in tidiness it made up for with bucketfuls of charm. The white washed buildings housing some of the most personality-ful ponies and horses I have had the pleasure to spend time with. My... More

We visited in July with three children and three inexperienced (and somewhat apprehensive) adult riders. The children were immediately entertained by the chickens, cats, dog, ducks and pet sheep as well as the horses while the staff took care to understand everyone's riding ability and kit us out with appropriate and well fitted safety equipment. We chose to do a... More

A beautiful place, really careful, fun instruction, loads of lovely things to look at for the non riding people and nice cats. If you're thinking about it, go, you'll be pleased.

Went in May and neither I nor my wife had ever ridden before. Weather was fantastic. Thought the place could do with a little tidy up but putting that aside the time we spent there was fantastic. Excellent tuition in the short time we had and the ride was based on our skill level. Just about got to the top... More

We were in West Cork visiting family and decided at the last minute to try to find horses for them to ride. We got in touch with Georgia and she couldn't have been nicer. Not only did she accomodate us, we got lost on the way there and she still let us have our ride and was also nice about... More

My 4 year old daughter has been taking riding lessons at Bantry Pony Trekking now for just over a year and absolutely loves it there. Jenny and Chris are brilliant with her and I'm always confident that her safety is their priority. The setting of the farm is beautiful and is worth a visit alone. With both an indoor and... More

We've been going to Bantry Pony Trekking for the last 3 years and I can honestly say it is the highlight of my kids holiday seeing their Granny in West Cork. Nice people - Jenny and Chris - who are no nonsense, get on well with kids and make it a fun experience for all concerned. The children have graduated... More

Staying in Durrus found this easy to find even if it is in the wild. Lovely people. The guides are students from Europe but with equine experience. Took time to assess our abilities and suitability for their horses and offered body protecters. Did the summit ride. Fantastic views and well mannered horses. Even got to meet the twin horses who... I had a lovely ride on Batsy. We even had a bit of a canter on our way up the top of the mountain. The views were spectacular, but everything looks better from a horse's back. Bantry Pony Trekking are very safety conscious, so even if you have never ridden before, I would give it a try here. Highly recommended.
