The beauty of the Grotto isn't really the grotto itself but rather the view across Dingle bay. The slate quarry was reopened a number of years ago and the grotto seems to have lost some of it's peacefulness. At the entrance (viewing point) the old slate 'slag" is gradually being removed (I guess sold by the current owners) so it...

The views are just lovely and it although the slate quarry is now closed you can still see into the entrance and what must be the highest grotto in Ireland! There is no through road.

The views from up here are absolutely gorgeous. Slate Quarry itself is hugely unexciting though. Drive up to it is beautiful.
