We stopped in to visit this site without prior knowledge of it. What a mistake. A few tired looking displays in well preserved peasant houses. We saw no animals, docents, or for that matter, other visitors. I can't believe I actually paid a fee to enter. This "museum" is the very definition of "tourist trap." In and out in less... More

Not a large, but a very interesting museum. The brochure you are given on entering contains useful information on all the properties. A visit to the adjoining pub is recommended afterwards for an Irish coffee.

Quite interesting but not sure if the owners were all that keen on actually having folks stop by. They have a lot of really good exhibits, so was a bit surprised at the total lack interest or welcome. Regardless, it is worth the stop.

There was nobody here when I arrived at about 430 on a Sunday afternoon. I had to pay in the nearby pub where I was handed a well thumbed visitor "guide" and sent away. The museum consisted of 4-5 replica buildings, some sad-looking animals and not much else. I left after about 10mins.

While not at the top of ones list to visit no trip around the Ring of Kerry should be without. Ii gives a very good perspective of Ireland of old. My wife's Mother and Father were both from Ireland and it helped her seeing how they lived many years ago. Worth the visit.

We drove the Ring of Kerry in a clockwise direction, so as to avoid getting behind tour busses. This meant that the Kerry Bog Museum was our last major stop. We were the ONLY people looking at the exhibits. It was nice having the place to ourselves, but the gift shop was not even open, so €5 did seem slightly... More

When you enter the gate, leave today behind and step into the Ireland of past times in all its frugality and simplicity. A life on the edge for so many, of hard toil and often hunger, yet with dignity and humour. See the number of beds and that families were huge. Maybe 14 living in one of the cottages and... More

Our tour stopped at the village. I thought the venue was not authentic, and was small. There was not enough to see to justify the price or the time. Quite frankly, my tour guide was excited enough going to the village, that after seeing it, I wonder if he was getting a "kick back" for bringing us there. Overall, disappointing.

I really loved this little village. So charming, a moment in times gone by. Highly recommend this stop on the ring of kerry!!! Learned a lot about the irish famine, loved the irish wolfhounds and delcious irish coffee, best in Ireland!!!!
