Owner description: Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich quiet farmlands of the Golden Vale by the River Maigue, Adare is a model village dating from the time of the Norman conquest. It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven (Quin Family) for over three centuries and is located on the Limerick to Tralee road, the N21, a great pit stop for those on the way to the Ring of Kerry. The Adare Heritage Centre allows you to step back in time through an informative historical exhibition, in the middle of this charming town with its many thatched houses. This reconstruction of Adare’s unique past, from the arrival of the Normans to the foundation of ancient abbeys in the Middle Ages, is also retold in five different languages.

The Adare Heritage Centre is in the middle of Adare Village. It has a restaurant, museum, tour desk, and gift/souvenir shops. We had a voucher for three breakfasts there; the first day we arrived after breakfast hours but they were very accommodating and allowed us to order anyway. We also booked a tour there of the nearby Desmond Castle. This... More

We had a voucher during our trip for three breakfasts at the Adare Heritage Centre. Two of the three days, the wait staff took my friend's order for coffee, ignored me and quickly walked away, and brought us both coffee, although I had wanted to order tea. They provided pre-fixe menus, and one day, we were provided with menus that... More

The selection of woolen goods in the Adare Woolen Shop was wide and the staff were very easy as I tried on several garments.

This was a nice place but definitely not as great as we had been led to expect from the travel agent. A nice village with some thatched roofs and a lovely park.

We stopped at the Centre when we first got into Adare. They offer tourist information, brochures, and several interesting souvenir shops. There is a small museum there that relates the history of the village, but it is in need of some attention and funding. We ate at the Dovecote restaurant which offers both indoors and outdoor seating. You order at... More

There was a good choice of lots of interesting collections and souvenirs - some very expensive indeed..... But many items to browse through, from books to memorabilias to hand knitted children's clothes, tea towels, oven gloves, souvenir fridge magnets etc etc etc...... Always interesting a place to visit, and a bonus also when staff are friendly, welcoming and interested in... More

Heritage center was very convenient and had lots of info on what to do in the area. The restaurant was good for a quick bite, kind of cafeteria style.

Hello; in September 2014 my family and I travelled to Ireland from Canada. It was suggested to us to visit Adare in County Limerick. We did so, and wandered into a little yellow shop with a thatched roof at one end of town. There was a very unfriendly woman sitting at the desk who gave me the 'evil eye' as... More
