Description: Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich quiet farmlands of the Golden...
Snuggled in a wooded setting among the rich quiet farmlands of the Golden Vale by the River Maigue, Adare is a model village dating from the time of the Norman conquest. It has been home to the Earls of Dunraven (Quin Family) for over three centuries and is located on the Limerick to Tralee road, the N21, a great pit stop for those on the way to the Ring of Kerry. The Adare Heritage Centre allows you to step back in time through an informative historical exhibition, in the middle of this charming town with its many thatched houses. This reconstruction of Adare’s unique past, from the arrival of the Normans to the foundation of ancient abbeys in the Middle Ages, is also retold in five different languages.

Great place to learn the historical aspects of this region. So many things to lean about in Ireland. Such a friendly place to visit.

Visited here to purchase tickets for the castle. A few interactive displays and panel boards provided a nice introduction to the history of the area. Shopping wasn't part of my agenda so cant comment on that.

Adare is depicted as the most charming small town in Ireland. And that's true. It's easily accesible from Limerick by coach, roughly half an hour trip. There are colorful houses along the way in its High Street. At the Heritage Centre the stuff is well prepared to suggest attractions. The castle can be visited only by guided tour. The check... Very helpful and friendly. Booked several tours through here , much more inexpensive that thought, with excellent service.

Adare is very small, so this heritage center kind of anchors the sites of the village and give you a sense of the history and why Adare is so famous. There are several options for souvenir shopping, having a family crest researched and/or made, as well as good food options. Importantly, there is also a free bathroom and plenty of... More

Dire tourist trap of expensive tea shop and nasty, commercial 'craft outlets' full of hordes of tourists. Give it a miss.

Supposed to be Ireland's prettiest village but I have seen much nicer ones. This place is overhyphed and very busy. The centre was informative but you would need a mortgage to shop with t-shirts around £65 and knitwear in the £200,s also found a necklace I bought elsewhere selling for 8 times the price I paid

Stopped in here to get some information on walk in Adare. The place was packed with tour bus traffic and did not really offer much information. It was primarily shops of tacky souvenirs and a cafe. We did not stay at all.

Very informative Visitor Centre. We get to know about the past history in the 'Historic Exhibition' and tracing your ancestors in the 'Curran's Heraldry'. It was a fun and relax.
