This summer (2014) I walked from the town to the beach across from Charles Fort. It's quite the scene I have to say. Garretstown which I've photographed here is also a terrific sight.

Thoroughly enjoyable. It was fascinating to listen and learn from Dermot. While his knowledge of KInsale is broad and deep, he can seamlessly integrate that history with other world events of the time. I would guess from our own experience that a good portion of each tour's presentation is spontaneous and responsive to questions that arise. Not at all stilted... More

Dermot Ryan has got to be among the best tour guides in Ireland and beyond. He was as charming as you might expect from an Irishman, but his knowledge of Kinsale is deep. Further, he was able to recognize the particular interests of individuals amongst our small group and personalize points of interests and bits of fascinating trivia. Neither too... More

Mr. Ryan took our UR Travel Tour group on a lovely afternoon tour of Kinsale. Mr. Ryan mixes his deep historic knowledge about this breathtaking seaside town with humor and interesting anecdotes about the people who have lived there. I highly recommend taking this walking tour and making a day of it enjoying the local sites and pubs. In fact,... More

Well worth the bus ride for a half day walk around Kinsale. The views, fort, castle, church and shops are all worth visiting.

Definitely happy we stopped in Kinsale for a Heritage walk with Dermot on our 4 week journey through the UK and Ireland. Extremely knowledgeable, inexpensive (only 5 euro each!). He also provided umbrellas for everyone as it was a bit rainy the day we did our tour in August, which was greatly appreciated!

If you make a trip to Kinsale, do NOT pass up a tour of the town. For us, a tour with Dermot was a repeat, but each time he gives the tour, he gives a little bit different slant....keeps you on your toes and you are always learning. He explains the significance of the past, how the waterfront has literally... More
