very well laid out park with facilities along the paths. Park at the church and take one of the many walks around the park. Peaceful and serine, this is a place to get away from it all. No mobile or wifi coverage so peace at last!! If you wish to drive the 5.5 km circuit, there is a €5 fee... More

This is a truly beautiful and scenic area, great walking trails and well worth visiting. It compares favorably with Glendalough in Co. Wicklow

This is a wonderful place for walking and relaxing. We have been here many times and it still holds a special place for us to visit. Although the recent tree felling has somewhat diminished the majesty of the place it still is an awesome place to walk. There are a number of trails ranging from fairly easy to hard with... More

Hidden in a cirque of hills off a country road between Macroom and the coastal road between Bantry and Glengarriff, Gougane may be hard to find, but impossible to forget. The road along an idyllic lake, set beside a tiny and historic chapel and a small hotel, leads to a forest that rises up the sides of the surrounding hills.... More

We visited the week after the paths had reopen and there was still a little bit of work going on, but not enough to disturb our visit. This is a truly magical place tucked away, surrounded by steep hills with a beautiful lake and church on the way in. The forest is set within the valley at the very start... More

It was a typical Irish misty day, yet the sun was shining every now and then, a fine mist reaching the already damp ground. I heard music escaping from the doors of the beautiful little church, in which the owners of Bayview House B & B Clonalkilty were married, so I ventured in. Three musicians were practising, the priest was... More

All I need say, is if you want to visit a place that oozes peace and serenity, this is the place to go. St. Finbarres Church on the lake is a beautiful example of Ireland's old churches and the forest park nearby is a little gem for a quiet walk. Go Go Go!!! There is a hotel/tearoom nearby so you...
