Gougane is a unique experience as you will see the lovely oratory before entering. You have the option of walking a longer distance in thereby saving on entry costs for your car. Pathways are clearly marked according to distance and degree of fitness needed. Toilets provided and on our last visit we saw a camping group availing of the facilities!

At Gougane Barra there is a very small church which seems to be very popular, there was a wedding going on when we got there and a bagpiper was wandering up and down the road practicing for the next one. An ideal place for a quiet stroll. There is a café and a pub, the café deserve a special mention... More

This park covers a lot of ground, is very well laid out, plenty of picnic seats and enough trails to satisfy an army. We will come back again.

It's just so beautiful, and peaceful. Absolutely gorgeous in sunny weather but nice even when it's raining. Would be lovely for picnics and walking.

the scenery is spectacular without a doubt, you start with the holy st finbarrs church and then carry on to the forrest, beautiful waterfalls and walks through the forrest, unbelievably beautiful and also you can see where the start of the River Lee emerges

Wonderful paths that run along a beautiful stream. A restroom is inside the park. Plenty of picnic tables throughout as well.

Handy parking, accessible walking trails and stunning scenery that is remarkable even within a picturesque region. Delicious food available at the hotel near the entrance.

The correct name is Gougane Barra Forest Park. It is a beautiful area with many trails lacing through streams and waterfalls in a valley cradled by mountains. It is the kind of forest you might have imagined you would find in Ireland, velvet moss covered floor and moss climbing up the tall trees - at the right time of year,... More
