Beautiful Course, Maybe My Toughest Test in Golf, EVER!

This was our first links experience. We had a bit of rain, but were prepared. We had the toughest wind I have EVER experienced in nearly 50 years of golf. I'm a 12 handicap and... read more

This was our first links experience. We had a bit of rain, but were prepared. We had the toughest wind I have EVER experienced in nearly 50 years of golf. I'm a 12 handicap and was humbled by wind and the course. In fairness, our playing partner, a member, said it was the worst wind she had seen on the... More

This course is really what links golf is all about. It is not as polished as some of the Irish courses and you may lose a few balls the first time you play it because the grass is high in many places and the lies in the fairway are not very flat. It's relatively hard, narrow in many places, but... More

Tough tough course in the wind - but what a course. Loved it & would definitely recommend playing it. Lightening quick undulating greens and there is no easy shot out there at all. A great links course

This is a wonderful links course outside Dublin that needs to be on everyone's list. Fair test of golf with beautifully designed holes that are interesting and challenging. Dry weather made the course play fast and hard, and the greens were both subtle and tricky. On top of the great course are a wonderful, friendly staff starting with the pro... More

The course is really spectacular and a real challenge. Large dunes, narrow fairways, fast greens and great views. We played on a windy day which makes it even more challenging. A real Links course which we enjoyed very much. Staff is very friendly, specially the Assistant Pto Brendan Walton was a great help: A must play if you are in... More

I try to play the Island GC when I get to Dublin. It had been a few years. I couldn't believe how much better the conditions were when I played last month. Don't get me wrong, it was great before and now it is nothing short of spectacular! Friendly pro shop staff, good service in the restaurant/bar, and the members... More

Well what can I say about this place. It is just quite incredible! Every hole is a challenge. There are some absolutely fantastic views as you go around the course that are breathtaking! For any standard of golfer this is a must play!

The Island Golf Club, just north of Dublin, is a fantastic track set along the coast. It is a classic Irish Links golf course and one of the best you will ever play. We played it as our last course before returning to the States and loved every shot. It has fair holes (none are easy) and interesting holes and... More

Visited here about 20 years ago, but we were driven off by bad weather. We put it on our schedule this time and WOW! This may be the best Links on the East Coast of Ireland. The Course as I remember it from our first visit has improved the playing surfaces 300%. The routing and the variety of shot making... More

Played here a couple of weeks back. This was our last course on a week long golf vacation on the east coast of Ireland. The sand dunes are huge and the ocean views are everywhere. Course was in great condition and the greens were the best on the trip. The 14th hole has the narrowest fairway we had ever seen!... More
