We saw the signs for the Lace and Design Centre in the evening while seeing Kenmare. We made plans to come back in the morning to visit and are so glad we did! A beautiful display of many laces with ladies actually making lace as it has been done for hundreds of years! My only regret is not being able... More

I enjoyed this visit as I have a lace fire screen that was made by the nuns of Kenmore and given to my parents as a wedding present in the 1940's The local women are taking up the role and reviving the old trade of lace making.

Well signed but still a bit hidden - next to info center, upstairs to the back. Definitely not fancy. A couple small display cases before entrance not related to lace - not quite sure why they are there - maybe things that didn't fit in the Heritage Center below? Director/manger Norma very happy to answer any questions and give a... More

A marvellous historical yet current collection of Lace & Lacemaking. Delightful tour & demonstration of a truly amazing handicraft. Not to be missed in this world of machines!

This is a tiny, one-room exhibit on lace-making in Kenmare. The docent demonstrated, for just my wife and me, how lace is made, in several different ways and styles. Small displays, and nice lace products for sale. Half-hour tops

I have always been fascinated by Lacemaking. I am a Spinner and Weaver and can attest to the hours it must take to complete a lace project. I have admired it, but never understood it unti I went to the center and the person there patiently explained it to me. Actually there are about 4 or 5 different types of... More

A tiny building packed with history of one of Ireland's treasures-Kenmare lace. The history is interesting, the displays beautiful. Glad they're keeping the art alive!

We knew that Kenmare is known for its lace making, so it was a real treat to visit this centre and learn more about how it is done from the lady who manages it. She showed us how she makes the various patterns--fascinating!
