As locals my wife and I look to visit during shopping expeditions about once a week. Depending on the time or day it can be too busy for us so we go elsewhere. Being busy suggests that we are not the only ones who like this place! It is always a relaxing place to have a coffee break.

Always a pleasure to visit the tea shop/Bookshelf in Saltash. Staff are very friendly and more importantly very efficient, Always a warm welcome and professional service. The food is just perfect and the special toasted sandwich is my favourite. There are also delicious cakes on offer. Its very rare to find somewhere that still offers a great service and good... More

We decided to pop in after reading a review about this shop. We were not disappointed. The cake was delicious and it was a very relaxing place. We sat by the window and watched the world go by. We got talking to the owner who is a very nice woman, lots of local knowledge and made the visit even more... More

Seem to visit Saltash two or three days a year, almost invariably through sailing. Sometimes we have have stumbled upon some joyous fest or other usually with more than a smattering of costume but otherwise you might well think that this is a pretty soulless town culturally. All the more surprising then, that there should be a shop like this.... More

I am lucky enough to live in Saltash, which means I have regular opportunities to visit The Bookshelf. Not only does it have a comprehensive range of excellent books, but it is also the perfect place to pop into for a coffee (or tea) and a scrumptious snack. There is always a warm welcome for everyone and whether you want... More

Yesterday I returned from a trip to London and stupidly left my three quarter read book by Roddy Doyle on the table in the train. Needed to finish it as you do. Not yet a Kindle person. Walking down Fore Street Saltash this morning I happened upon this very little shop/cafe and went in not thinking for one moment there... More

Not just a skillfully selected range of books but a perfect little cafe and now a neat little selection of unusual but delightful toys. It's a pity the owner has not added a photo or the link to the perfect wen site.

Cant praise this place highly enough. Small corner site on main street. Two floors with its own friendly cafe above. The joy of the shop for us is the lady who has always served us. The eclectic and skillfully selected stock which seems to be completely above and out of phase with the slightly pedestrian cultural image of the town... More
