We were very impressed by the infamous Christmas Garland in the Great Hall and it was so nice to have people dressed in period costume to mingle with the visitors. There is a great bookshop there with an amazing range of bargain books for sale. Go down to the Quay for a snack & see the Shamrock boat with a... More

Went to see the Christmas Garland for the first time and was not disappointed, this National Trust property is absolutely first class. If you live local or are just visiting Cornwall do visit. Situated in the Tamar Valley the lanes leading to the property are quite narrow in places with a few "blind" corners , well signposted from the main... More

The weather outside was frightful, but the fire was so delightful! Blisteringly cold November day was brightened by a visit to Cotehele. The walk through the gardens, along the river to the water mill was beautiful and the Christmas Garland in the Great Hall was spectacular - nothing however quite hit the highs of the Great Hall's roaring fire! An... More

Visited on a dull wet day in November but it was a great day out. Dogs loved the walk through the woods down to the river. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the Christmas garland being made and having it explained how the flowers are gathered and sorted each year for it. The other buildings that were open were fascinating. Slightly disappointed... More

What a great day out lovely surroundings and the house is great. National trust again have it right. Great staff with very interesting and factual information. Also well stocked shop with great products. The cafe is also great lovely food made fresh with great prices. The Xmas decorations are fantastic and the garland is something else. Well done everyone.

We visited Cotehele a number of years back so had it top of the list when in the area again. Great property with lovely ambience and surroundings. Enjoyed heading down to the quay whilst the children enjoyed the pumpkin carving for Halloween. Would happily recommend.

Although most of the house was closed (we knew), there is plenty more to see if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Off season when the house is closed, it is well worth picking a nice day and exploring the tower, gardens, woodland walks, mill and especially the quay. In the autumn, the colour of the trees and... Very interesting house, different to many NT houses as it feels much less grand. Great views, nice grounds lovely cafe. Well worth a visit.
