this is an Elizabethan home rising above the River Tamar. Do not miss the chapel; the tiled floor is the only one of its kind in Europe. At the back of the chapel is a clock without a face or hands, that simply chimes the hour of the day, and ask the volunteer about the so-called leper's panel. The rest... More

Beautiful formal gardens and an extensive house to wander around. As usual with the National Trust really informative guides who are only too happy to chat. Worth the walk up to the mill to see the wild orchids alone. There is also a minibus to take you there if you can't manage the walk. If you want to have a... More

Fantastic, the house and the gardens. All really well kept. The food in the restaurant is also first class. Would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. There is also an excellent walk along the river from here to Calstock.

Loads to do here, especially if you visit the Quay and the mill too. Very picturesque and lots of walking. Fun for all of the family.

A very surprising property steeped in History. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and had a wonderful time wandering from room to room. Loads of information cards for you to read and if they didn't tell you enough the guides on duty were only too pleased to tell you more fascinating facts. The formal gardens were a joy, albeit... I have been visiting Cornwall for 20 years but never been to Cotehele before. What an historic gem in a beautiful setting, and so much to see with the quay and mill too!

A very busy day at Cotehele. Maybe restrict entry to the house when it's that busy? Difficult to see anything with 20 odd people in each room! Been to plenty of other NT properties and could always follow a story around each, history of the building, family story etc... Never managed it at Cotehele which made the visit quite disappointing.... More

Nice to learn the history of the house with the comprehensive guides on offer. Lovely gardens to wander about in - and a shuttle bus for those that don't want to walk!

I am fairly local to Cotehele and so visit with semi-regularity. That said, i find something new to grab my interest every time i visit. The rooms inside are mainly unlit, to preserve the contents, but i feel this does not diminish the experience in any way; in fact it adds to the atmosphere and gives a glimpse into how... More

The house was very interesting, much bigger than we thought and kept the kids entertained throughout. Although we did not have much time to see the gardens, what we did see were lovely. Unfortunately the weather was not great so we didn't spend much time in the gardens but it would be nice to come back one day with a... More
